You have two wounded souls and how each of their stories began stayed with me until the end. They are honest with each other and spoke from the heart and that is when the healing began. When they started to heal, that is when the romance built ever so slowly which was so refreshing. They didn't just hop into bed, but it developed out of friendship. There is one foreplay before marriage, very sensual, mildly descriptive, outside of marriage. The actual act is never mentioned when they are married. But, that did not diminish the love and passion the author conveyed without the actual act explained.
The secondary character's added so much to this story, even the children. Everything seemed like it was real, their hurts, betrayal and how they solved conflict.
There is suspense, intrigue and only fighting that the DeWolfe men make seem like child's play. As with many of this author's stories, someone dies and this story had many meet their fate. The road to HEA is very rough but oh so satisfying.
The epilogue is one of this author's best. KLV gives us so much more and after so much sadness, it was wonderful to get a great ending and it
was so nice to meet up with old friends from her stories.
I don't want to make it sound that this story is only about loss, because it isn't. It is about losing yourself to grief and how you are pulled out of the darkness to enjoy life again. It is about hope, love and second chances when you are not expecting it.
If you haven't read this author before, you are missing a fantastic story teller. You will lose yourself to another time period and character's that jump off the page, they are so real. (ljb)
