I love Wendy Corsi Staub's books (I have almost all of her books) but I have been having a hard time getting into this one, the first book in this series was OK, but this one kind of drags on to me. I wish she would continue the Lily Dale series.

Story Description:

HarperCollins Publisher|January 14, 20132|Mass Market Paperbound|ISBN: 978-0-06-207032-6

From the New York Times bestselling author comes a novel of suspense so terrifying it may make you afraid of the dark...

Allison Taylor MacKenna feels as though she's awakened at last from a ten-year-long nightmare. But her darkest hour has yet to come.

Nestled in the warm, domestic cocoon of loving husband and family, Allison finally feels safe - unaware that a stranger's brutal murder on a Caribbean island is the first step in an intricate plan to destroy everything in her life.

For seasoned NYPD Detective Rocky Manzillo, the signs are clear that something terrible has emerged from the shadows, a murder victim left without a face and a faded photograph that yields a startling connection.

Now, as Allison's murky memories of a troubled childhood creep back to light, a cunning predator who shares her history prepares to enact a horrifying retribution - and won't stop killing until Allison face a shocking truth...and pays the ultimate price.

My Review:

I didn't enjoy this novel nearly as much as I have other Staub novels. It seems to me that Ms. Staub is almost trying to rush to see how many books she can pump out in a year or so and this, I personally feel, is affecting her writing immensely. I used to be completely glued to the pages of her books but found this one to be a bit of a yawner to be quite honest and felt it went on and on a bit too long in places, almost as if she is adding words just to lengthen the novel. I was a tad disappointed in this book and wouldn't necessarily recommend it. However, someone else might pick it up and think it's the best book they've ever read, but after having read every single book Ms. Staub has ever written to date, this one was a complete let down for me.

I read all three books with this story line and the author kept me on the edge of my seat till the end.
If you love good mystery stories this book is for you. I know it was fiction but it still kept me reading and buying
her next book. Enjoy

I love Wendy Corsi Staub's books because she always keeps you guessing. I never would have suspected who the real perp was in this series. I got turned on to her with the 4 part Lily Dale series because I live in Lily Dale. The four stories were great, so I tried out her other works, and I was not disappointed. All that I have read by her is stuff that keeps me guessing, and by the end of each book I can say, "Wow, what a ride that was!"

This is the first time that I had read the writing of Wendy Corst Staub. I was very impressed with her writing. The story line was great and not too wordy like some authors works tend to be.( I hate reading books that you have page after page dealing with how things looks, color of everything, going into great descriptived details that adds nothing to the story) I woudl recommend this book to anyone.

The terror of Sleepwalker and Nightwatcher continues as this New York Times bestselling author presents a new novel of suspense so terrifying it may make you afraid of the dark ...

***********************

Shadowkiller is the last installment in the Nightwatcher trilogy. When I was asked to read this book I decided to go out and get the first 2. Though this book can be read as a stand alone, it was definitely better understood having read in order. And let me say it was a great read. I don't normally read thriller type books but after reading this series I was hooked on Wendy's writing. This series along with her other books are a must read! Even if they made me sleep with the tv on for about a week *lol*

Shadowkiller ends the trilogy involving Allison Taylor and James "Mack" MacKenna. Allison met Mack, her now husband, when she lived in Manhattan in her apartment that was across the hall from Mack and his wife. Mack's wife was killed in the 9-11 tragedy and Allison's friend was murdered in their apartment building.

Within the three books numerous things happen.....the first book is written with the tragedy of 9-11 and a serial killer on the loose

The second with the now married Allison and Mack, a stalker threatens to break the family apart and kill.

And the third book with its many twists keeps you on your toes.

I liked the story line. I also liked the way she connected the two woman at the end. I didn't like the quick stop and go's. You'd just get into one character or situation and then out of the blue it suddenly switches to something or some one else. This is my first time reading her book. I will try another.

I so wanted to love this book but WOW this book is soooo slow ! I kid you not, the author just goes in circles talking about randomness up until about 60% of the book. I am never one to put a book down without finishing it, but I was so close to doing so with this book. I was wondering for a second if I had accidentally purchased a romance novel rather than a suspenseful mystery - seriously! Also, I was kind of bummed that this author seems to be a bit of a 'word snob' due to the fact that she continuously uses vocabulary words that are just completely unnecessary and will require the average reader to have a dictionary on hand. I gave this to my younger cousin to read and she gave up on it- she was too frustrated with the stuffy vocabulary and was upset the book moved so slow ! Consider reading 'Flowertown' by Jessica Marie St.James ! Now THAT'S an amazing read !
