I had my doubts about Natasha. From the beginning I knew her to be a, well, let’s just say, not so nice person. It didn’t help that she’s a demon (the most ruthless of the Kyn). But darn it, Ms. Gray made me like her so much that I supported and rooted for her to kick ass (which she did very well).
As for Darius (delicious in both forms), Ms. Gray ensured at the start of the book that the reader didn’t know where he stood or how he worked into the Kyn system. By the end of the book I was in love with another Kyn.
Although all of the characters in this series are dynamic, my favorite continues to be Raine and I got a big enough dose of her to make me even happier with the story.
If you were waiting for more books of the series to be released before delving in then wait no more. Four of these novels will keep you occupied and happy for a while. As for me, I have a fan letter to write to Ms. Gray instructing her to get her behind in gear with book five.
This is book four in the series. I STRONGLY recommend you read the other books before this one, you'll get a much better picture of how Natasha is perceived by the others. You need that, because, up to now, I did not like Natasha and you need to know why.
Following the devastating events of book three, Natasha steps up, but that's not really wanted, by many. Darius arrives, with Kayn, from The Council. But not everything is as it seems and the big bad hunters of the Kyn world, the demons, find themselves being hunted.
Probably my least favourite of the four books so far, but it's not because of my dislike of Natasha. Because here, she shines! Loved her here, and her demon. Loved the marked differences between their human and demon characteristics.
Darius has as many layers as Natasha does too and the two spend much of the book flirting. And I loved it!!
Raine and Gavin play a huge part here, so you get a bit more of those two, too.
But something didn't quite work, and I *think* this is why. There is much left unresolved and I was expecting it all to be done and dusted here. We now know WHO is behind all the problems that have been hitting the Northwestern Kyn, but we don't know the WHY yet, other than they want the power.
So, Ms Gray, when do I get my answers, hmmmm?? Because I saw another story unfolding in the pages of this one, and I want to know what's going on with those two, as well as that much bigger picture.
Solid four stars
