My grandson is almost 2 and he really enjoys watching the Shalom Sesame movies! Children learn basic customs, Hebrew numbers and letters from various characters (human and puppets) and also learns from other children. I recommend the Shalom Sesame movies!

This video has less religious or Hebrew content than the Shabbat and Chanukkah volumes. It has some cultural components (like a visit to a school to talkg about recycling) but there isn't much uniquely Israeli going on. Customs like Tu Bishvat seders and eating the shivat haminim are not discussed.

I liked how the number of the day is 15 so the children can hear many more Hebrew numbers.

This volume suffers from volume problems in being much quieter than other disks in the series.

Shalom Sesame "Grover Plants a Tree" does a wonderful job teaching kids about nature. Similar to the other Shalom Sesames, the original Sesame Street characters appear in the show. Unlike the other Shalom Sesames, this episode is more about nature than a Jewish holiday, which in this case is Tu B'Shevat. In this episode, a little girl and her grandfather plant a tree in Turkey, kids make birdfeeders and learn about recycling, and Debra Messing does a cute skit about nature's meaning. The show features the Hebrew letter tet and reviews a few Hebrew numbers. Kids find the cartoon skit at the end of the episode hilarious. The skit shows a little boy who plants a tree and then pulls a cloud over the tree to water it and then pulls the sun over the tree to give the tree light. I highly recommend this DVD.
