Kane left Hawai’i after a mudslide killed his parents and sister, denying his shamanistic warrior side, and becoming a lawyer in Tyler, Georgia, a town located close to Nocturne Falls. Seth talks him into a weekend in town at the condo, where they are invited to Ivan and MonaLisa’s engagement party.
Sasha is a shape-shifting cat cursed into the form of a parrot by an acquaintance, a witch whose boyfriend decided to hit on Sasha. She’s in Nocturne Falls to hopefully find another witch who might be powerful enough to lift the curse. Because she can only shift from bird to human for three hours a day, from five to eight in the evening, she’s living life practically on the run.
When she learns that the spell can only be broken under a full moon during Samhain by her true love, with the witch who cast the spell present to revoke it, Sasha starts to despair until Kane reveals that he believes he is her true love because he saw her in a vision years before. She wants to believe him and, with three weeks to Samhain, he decides to give her the romance she desires. He also has a plan to get the witch to Nocturne Falls for Samhain and asks Sasha to trust him.
How Kane and Sasha break the curse, fall in love, and live happily ever after makes for a delightful story, although it doesn’t address the issue of whether or not Kane embraces his shamanistic side again totally. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing more of this couple in Nocturne Falls.
