Professor Klaus Schwab is Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. In 1998, he created the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Schwab holds doctorates in economics (summa cum laude) from the University of Fribourg and in engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He has received numerous international and national honors.

This book is a policy guide, of which Klaus Schwab is the editor, not an author. It is a collection of UN, WEF, and OECD research on the social impact of various technologies. It’s handy to have them all in one place, but the same information is readily available elsewhere. Wired magazine is more up to date.

Schwab concludes each section by stating that XYZ technology is so important it must be controlled by some unspecified, transnational, system of “governance.” Depending on your political persuasion, this is either a technocrat’s fantasy or a sinister conspiracy. In either case, Schwab adds little value to an already turgid book.

There is Meat in this book. Lots of it. It opened my eyes to a Lot of stuff I didn't know about (which, obviously, was the *point* of buying it). I wish it had more info as to how all these technologies (of the 4th Ind. Rev.) actually WORKED, which is kind of what I was hoping for, but I guess in the real world, that's not possible - such a book would be 10,000 pages long, and could not be written by ONE person ANYWAY :) It was quite expensive, but I would still Definitely Recommend it.

Now all that's left is for India to BRING ABOUT the 4th Industrial Revolution on itself - when will that be? Hmm.... THIRTY nineteen maybe? :)

One note: The paper quality is not good - because it's printed on recycled paper. I don't like the former, but kudos for the latter :)
