I was replacing wood trim on my house and had to pull a lot of buried nails while standing on a ladder. I tried using other tools like claw hammer, screw driver, pry bar but was having a lot of difficulty removing the nails and in some cases couldn't get some of the nails removed. I borrowed the Shark nail puller from my next door neighbor and from then on ALL NAILS WERE REMOVED WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT. My neighbor told me he got the nail puller from Tool Crib and he let me use his catalog to order my own nail puller. I ordered two to give one to my son.

This tool is really helpful when framing, it will pull nails even whenthey have been driven below the surface of the wood, and even if you bust off the head it can still be pulled. This is the perfect size also. I've seen and used shorter ones, but they don't provide enough leverage.

I never thought I'd get excited about a nail puller, but these shark pullers are really a joy to use. My first model was the 8"er with the flat pry bar at one end, and I've ordered several other sizes since. The key to these things seems to be the quality of steel used - very strong and very hard - seems to bite into the nail no matter how much is showing.

I also own one of those old-fashioned looking nail pullers with the slide handle and moveable fulcrum. It certainly works, but is definitely much more trouble to get into position and get a grip on the nail that these Shark units. On these, just point the paws at the buried nail, give it a whack or two, and voila, it's got the grip it needs to start moving it.

Very versatile, very well made, very worthwhile to have in your toolbox.

I recently lost a simarly sized Bakuma (made in Japan) cat's paw on a job. I had owned it for about 15 years. I assumed that this tool was made in Japan. Everything about the tool looks good, but it's made in China, and I'm sure that it will end up being not as durable as the Bakuma. Time will tell.

I've been using this for a while. I'd say that it's just about as good as the ones made in Japan.

EDIT: I take that last comment back. I'm a full time Framer and this thing just hasn't held up. 18 months later I'm replacing it. Go to [...] and get the Bakuma 280mm version. Don't buy the "Light" version; it's more of a trim tool and can't even grab a 16D sinker.

I lost my Estwing 21" nail puller and decided to try this brand (being a bit cheaper). It's a decent puller but I find that the pointed ends on this tool are not as sharp or machined as well as on Estwings

I haven't used this product yet but it seems it will work quite well. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because in the product description it said it is 15 inch's long. In fact it is only 11 inch's long. Even counting the cardboard it is attached to it is still only 12 inch's.

These are the best cat paws on the market. I would not get another. Make sure you get the right size for your intent. The largest one tears things up, while the smaller ones work awesome on some exterior trim they can could use a bit more leverage to make a job easy.

If you need a nail puller then this is the toold for you! This is a far better nail puller than the Dead On Exhumer. I have over 15 years experience in framing and remodel and this is the only nail puller I'll ever use.
