All the best,
I am actually considering retuning it and buying a NV7xx instead.
Yes, it seems to have great suction, and all 3 operation modes are basically there (upright, lift-away and caddy "pull-behind you"). Also the extras are mostly good. I am particularly fond of the flat "under-the-fridge" unit.
Also a neat feature is the "self-propelling" when using the power brush on a carpet.
But that thing is heavy. I can manage, of course, but my wife can only use it in "caddy-mode". In every other mode it is too heavy.
The main power-brush unit can only be used in the "upright" mode. No, it is not possible to use it in the "lift-away" mode (that is only possible for the NV6xx and NV7xx models). The pod cannot just be detached from the rest, it can only be detached from the power-brush unit. So, no power-brush directly on the wand - just the bare floor part and all the other extras.
The power-brush/upright mode does a terrible job on bare floors. We have a cat, and she spreads her litter corns all around the place. The power-brush unit without activating the brush does NOT suck them all in when passing over them (yes, the suction strength regulator is at full strength). And WITH the brush activated it propels the corns against the legs of the vacuuming person. Very, VERY disappointing.
Only the bare floor unit does a really good job there. True. But when your floor mixes bare floor and carpet, it would mean on-off-on-off... with the various attachments. That is not acceptable, when trying to do a full clean run of the house.
The power-brush also immediately tangles with hair. I don't know how long it will take until it gets blocked, but I don't expect it to be long.
The so-called pet "power" brush attachment is no power attachment. That is completely misleading or outright wrong. The term should mean that it has its own little motor inside to run the brush. Again something that seems to apply to the (and I think here only) NV7xx models. The pet brush provided with the NV552 is only air flow driven (the usual thing - by its own suction).
The power cable is way shorter than e.g. for the Shark Lift-Around we had before (and we were very satisfied with that one - it is just that its extendable wand broke, and there are no more replacement parts; I was expecting the Lift-Away to be a Lift-Around with some additional options - as light when carrying it around, as powerful and thorough, ...; but no, at least the NV552 does NOT live up to these expectations).
All in all, we will observe it a little bit further, but my brain AND my gut tells me that the signs are all for a return and replacement by a higher model. After all, so far we have been really satisfied with Shark vacuums. But this one ...
