There is so much hype regarding this Shark vacuum that I decided to actually compare. I vacuumed 2 rugs in my house with my old Hoover vacuum. And then I vacuumed the exact same 2 rugs with this Shark. HOLY MOLY! (And I don't know if I have ever written the words 'holy moly' before!!) LOOK AT ALL THAT DIRT!!! (I have 3 year old twins and to be frank it is kind of grossing me out that they have been playing on all that dirt this whole time!)
This vacuum is AWESOME!
Now, I bought this vacuum at Costco. Before buying my vacuum I called Shark to find out about all the differences between their vacuums. "NV" is their normal prefix before their model number. But like a lot of manufacturers, when they sell items at Costco they give it a different model number. So a NV560, for example, at Costco it is a "UV560". Apparently the 750 series is the exact same as the 650 series. (There was a recall on some of the 650 vacuums in 2014/15. People got nervous about the 650s even though Shark had fixed the problem. So as a 'marketing strategy' they now also have the 750s. Same product, same price - it just makes people feel more comfortable....) Those are their "flagship" vacuums. But they are also a couple of hundred dollars more. When I brought up this UV560 at Costco, he looked up the product and all the accessories. He said that this UV560 at Costco (current price of $199) is a GREAT deal. He said I would be getting more than a $100 in accessories, the vacuum has the same "power" and "suction capabilities" as the 650/750 and he said I really couldn't go wrong with this 560. And he was right!
I will update when I have used it longer. But so far I am thrilled - who knew I could "love" a vacuum! I hope this is helpful to you as well!
UPDATE: 2 years later and this vacuum is still going strong! I have had no problems or issues and am loving this vacuum. But please note, when I wrote this review, it was specifically for the UV560. However, I have noticed that the reviews are now put on a different Shark model. (Maybe they don't make that specific model any more so Amazon or Shark put another similar model in it's place? I don't know...) I believe the general information is still valid, however I don't think they have the UV560 anymore. That said, it appears the model numbers are still following the same formula and from my experience with Shark, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a similar product!
Holy cow, I was stunned at how good this vac is. I thought I'd been doing a good job; boy, was I wrong. This cleans much better than the old canister, and it has the added attraction of not having a rear exhaust to blow everything around. I have two dogs, so my vac gets quite a workout. I've tried the power brush (although not on carpet, yet) and the Dust Away attachment; results with both were impressive, to say the least. I'm not a big fan of disposable parts, so I like that the filters are supposed to be rinsed out, rather than replaced, every few months. (I did order some extras, in case the dogs prove to be a bit much.) And the dust attachment pads are washable, too, so there's not a whole lot of constant cost with this vac.
My initial thought was that this woul be my "downstairs" vac, and continue to use the canister upstairs. I'm seriously considering buying another and mothballing the canister. This is an awesome vac.
