This is my second steam mop and my first Shark. My last steam mop was a Bissell bought at Target on a Black Friday sale. It lasted years! So when it died I set out looking for a replacement. I saw this one on sale at Best Buy and thought it would work. And it does. However, since I have previous steam mop experience I now how something to compare this one too and in doing so, I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I dislike that:
1) Holds very little water.
2) Pumping to make steam. I now miss my old trigger switch.
3) When you pump to make steam, you use up what little water you were able to fill it up with to begin with.
4) When mopping, you have to stop and pump to get a burst of steam. This has taken a quick 5 or 6 minute job of mopping my small kitchen to more of a 10-15 minute job. You wouldn't think it would add that much time, but its been my experience that yes, mopping all rooms have started taking 10 or more minutes to do due to the lame pumping.
5) The "sonic" option is loud and pretty pointless.

I like:
1) Long cord.
2) Looks nice.
3) Two pads.

Bottom line, no, I would not recommend this product to others. There are many other options out there and this one seems to be over priced for what you get. I will look for one that hold more water and has a trigger switch to produce the steam. Steam. Thats the whole point of a Steam Mop, right?

It's going back to the store. I've used it twice, both times doing my whole house (1400sf) of ceramic tile.

It's easy to assemble, it's easy to push around, it's quiet (even when the sonic button is on), it's easy to store.

It's a hassle to fill, even with the pouring cup they give you. I always miss the hole and end up with a puddle on the floor. You cannot remove the water container. You have to pour water into it to fill it and then hold the whole unit upside down and shake it to drain it.

The "pumping" for steam is absolutely ridiculous. In order to first get steam, you have to pump the handle down into the body 3-4 times. Supposedly, the mopping action will continue to deliver steam but I have not found that to work. I can mop 2-4 strokes, then realize there is no steam, the tiles aren't even damp, when I step on a tile that I have just "cleaned with steam" it is cold on the bottom of my feet. You have to stop mopping and pump the handle. Then you'll hear and see the steam coming out of the mop head. You can only do a few more strokes before there is no more steam and you have to stop and do it again.

The next issue I had was the amount of dirt on the mopping pad. It wasn't enough. I know how dirty my floors get as I've been cleaning them by hand, on my knees, with rags, for years. The amount of dirt I saw on the pad of this thing wasn't anywhere near the amount of dirt I can get up with a rag. I have a dog door with cats and dogs coming and going all day, I get dirt from the yard in the house. I was suspicious after the first clean that it wasn't clean.

The floors dry quickly, it does not leave a lot of water on them, but then again, I can't get a whole lot of steam out of it unless I continually pump it.

The Sonic feature is a waste. It doesn't effect the cleaning. As stated in my heading, the mop doesn't produce the same amount of steam as our previous model.

(Shark Sonic Steam Pocket Mop),
My Daughter asked for this item for christmas and I order it with not knowing how cool this was. I never had a floor stream cleaner and before I tried it out for myself , never believed in these items at all, as I'm used to moping my floors for 50 some years the old fashion way,,,with a mop and bucket filed with soap and water. Wow! Never knew how far in the ice age I was as a 65 year young woman. First time I tried her new Shark Sonic Stream Pocket Mop floor cleaner , I was competely sold. Now I have my own and use it so much , simly because it's not only easy and simple to use , not to mention time saving and cleans my floors 100% better than I could do the old fashion way. I guess to competely sum this up , is to add welcome me to the future of truly cleaned floors. Thank you Amazon for handleing this product. A five star product for sure.

I wanted to replace my decidedly flimsy Shark steam mop (you know, the purple "entry level" one) and ended up purchasing this model, primarily for my tile kitchen floor. I live on a dirt road and have 3 active (ie messy) children, ages 1,4 and 7. Between art projects and meal time spills, we use it several times a day in our home.

The Sonic steam mop is much more sturdy than the regular steam mop. With the old one, the handle always felt like it was about to snap. I found this model to be lightweight and easy to maneuver. Cleaning under the kitchen table and benches is easy due to the swivel steering. I can fold this nearly flat to the floor in order to reach all of the hard to reach areas under the benches of our breakfast nook.

The steam function works very well. The mopping action pumps the handle, which in turn produces the steam. When I come to a stubborn area I just place the mop head over it and pump the handle a few times. That usually does the trick. If it doesn't, I flip the unit over to the scrubbing side of the mop pad and attack the offending spot that way.

Filling it is easy with the cup provided. (I disagree with the reviewer who stated otherwise) Additionally, you do not have to empty any unused water unless you plan on storing it long term. (Even then, I'm not sure you need to) Another reviewer mentioned adding Fabuloso to the water. I wouldn't suggest you do this. The manual specifically states to use water only. On occasion (when the floor is particularly grungy)I have pre treated my floor with a multi purpose spray prior to mopping.

The dual sided mop head is easy to remove and put back on. It leaves the floor clean and streak/residue free.
