About Sharon Y. Mandeville-Edlin
Sharon Y. Mandeville-Edlin is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with over 27 years of experience who deals with ADHD, dyslexia, and a sensory processing disorder/retained reflexes herself. This gives her a unique insight into the kids she has the privilege of working with each day. She also has two kids of her own who had their own set of special needs when they were younger. That is why she wrote 'The Dragonfly Approach.' This book is a must-read guideline for all parents with or without kids with special needs. It is specially written for parents who have received a diagnosis for their child and need to know what to do next. (Please note, 'The Dragonfly Approach' has two editions. The second edition has just been released.) She is also a certified nutritional therapist recognizing the utmost importance of what we put into our bodies.
She has worked in nearly every pediatric setting including the NICU, acute care, in and outpatient clinics, early intervention, school systems, and in her private practice. This private practice is located in her converted garage the kids lovingly call 'Oz' and never want to leave. They often ask her if they can have their birthday party there as well as sleep-overs with their friends.
Sharon will tell you that she has the greatest job in the world that isn't a job at all, but an incredibly fun and fulfilling passion. It's not every day someone finds their purpose on this beautiful plant but she thanks God every day that she has.
When she's not 'OT-ing,' she is taking care of her blended family of 7, walking or riding her bike in the great outdoors, reading any book she can get her hands on, or writing women's fiction. The women's fiction book she is most proud of is titled 'A Change of Plans,' the first in her 'Changes' series, written in her pen name as Sharon Y. Edlin out now on Amazon. The second book in her 'Changes' series is called, 'The Boiled Frog,' which can also be found on Amazon. She is currently working on the third book in her 'Change' series, titled 'Going In Blind,' where she is spinning a tale centered around Ben, one of the most loved characters in her first book of this series.

I am a 27-year seasoned holistic Pediatric Occupational Therapist who has heard so many of my parents ask such questions as, "Why didn’t my doctor tell me this? Why won't anyone listen to me when I say there is something going on with my child? What do I do now that my child has been diagnosed? Why is diet so important? Will someone please write all of this down?"I have written this book to fill the gap that occurs after a child is diagnosed. I have written it in a fun and playful way, but with all the professionalism necessary to guide you in the right direction after you have received a diagnosis, or actively trying to discover if your child has special needs. The Dragonfly Approach contains information about retained reflexes, different forms of treatment, the importance of diet/nutrition, and the team of professionals that your child may need to see, plus much more. I will also give you the important questions to ask, checklists for you to fill out, and other helpful information which has been asked of me over the years. The time is now to rid frustrated parents of the overwhelming feeling of not knowing which way to turn to get their child the help that they need. I want to end the disappointment parents often feel when they find out much later the route they should have taken or the questions they should have asked, therefore losing precious time. The Dragonfly Approach is holistic and recognizes that each child and family is a unique unit. This book is written from my heart and contains my love and passion for what I believe I was put on this earth to do. It was written with my experience as a mother who has children of her own with their own set of special needs, as well as my own special needs of ADHD, dyslexia, retained reflexes, and sensory processing disorder. If you are looking for THE book to guide you in the right direction, you have found it! I pray it is helpful to you on your journey.
