Let me start by saying I did countless hours of research before settling on the 70 inch UQ model of Sharp TV. To give you some background, I'm an IT professional, and an audio/video-phile at home. I was considering the SQ/TQ model, as well as some of Samsung's middle-upper offerings. I've actually been a Samsung loyalist for the last 8 years.

I went into Best Buy and had a look for myself. After seeing the TQ in the store, I was set on that model because it fit my budget and had an excellent picture. After doing some online shopping I found a great deal for the UQ, which is very similar to the other Sharp models, but has an improved contrast ratio, and is brighter which is better for rooms with a lot of light. Look around! You can find this TV for prices near the price of the lower Sharp models!

Pros:

Picture Clarity: The TV is just so clear and has some excellent contrast. It gets even better if you are willing to take time and calibrate it further. There are great discussion forums online for calibrating the TV. 4k looks amazing! Watching some sample 4k videos, I can definitely see the improvement of 4k vs 1080p, and I am looking forward to the future of UHD! I find myself wishing everything was shot in 4k. I have a hard time telling the difference between "true 4k TV's" and this TV.

Thin: Looks excellent mounted on my wall. However, it's surprisingly heavy for its thinness. This is probably due to the aluminum frame and some additional speakers in this model. Make sure you have a good wall mount and find the studs if you are putting it on the wall. Otherwise the stand is comes with is sturdy, but I don't think the stand's "wing" look is for me personally.

Wallpaper mode: I think this is the coolest thing ever. People don't talk about it much.

After about a month of research and reading tons of reviews it was a toss up between this model and the Samsung UN75H6350 75-Inch 1080p 120Hz Smart LED TV. I went to Best Buy to see the picture in person and was just about to buy the Samsung when I seen the Sharp Aquos Q+ and hands down the Sharp had the better picture. The Samsung was a little blotchy, perhaps due to bad calibration but whatever the case it was not as good as the Sharp Aquos Q+. A final selling point was the Best Buy associate said this was the TV she had in her home and she was very pleased with it and she told me a lot about the TV.

I purchased the TV through Amazon Prime via Walts TV, I saved on the tax and of course there was no fee for delivery. When the TV arrived (on time and in perfect working condition) I spent a few days messing around with the picture settings before I went to youtube and found a gentleman by the name of T4Runner2011 that spent some time calibrating the settings on his model and created a "how to calibrate video" and now the TV looks fantastic. When running via Netflix and Vudu it's the best picture I ever seen. When viewing through my cable box/provider the HD channels look great and some channels look better than others overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

One thing I found out is the instruction manual included with the TV is actually only half the manual which only describes basic TV set up. You will have to do a Google search and get the second part that details the functions of the remote and advanced features. Its downloadable in pdf version.

In conclusion I'm sure there are better TV's out there, and there is no perfect TV but with this model you will not be disappointed.

9I'm not quite ready for the 4K plunge due to the current (as of May 20014) 'content vacuum' but definitely wanted the sharpest picture possible with current content over the next several years. I came from an awesome 65" Panny plasma, loved it, still have it in bedroom now. I've had this one for about 4 weeks and have been giving it the business throwing everything at it 'source-wise.'

1st ...

The color and brightness is amazing and 'unique,' I believe because of the yellow pixel addition... man, the BLUE skies are a blue like no other, the YELLOW/ORANGES are stunning and the green grass and green jello are in a whole new dimension of "pop!" Wow, really delicious stuff that on some well filmed content is just hard to peel your eyes away from!

2nd ...

Detail, and crispness for a 1080 is really, quit a substantial piece of the pie. I know this isn't part of the review but it is because with better content feed into this beast it can handle it and show you what you've NEVER seen from 1080 before. I added a new Oppo 103D 3D Blu-ray (this is a $600 blue ray unit ... I know, I know but read on! After adjusted the Darbee video enhancement on the 103D the detail I just wet myself! It isn't a 4K, no. BUT, it definitely doesn't look like any 1080 I've ever heard of or seen before, dang! Absolutely jaw dropping detail! You will not likely think of 3 thinks the same ever again ... sand grains, the human eye and hair!

3rd ...

Smart Apps, well they do look nice but the duel-core processor just doesn't cut it for me due to sluggishness. I'm sticking to an zippier external source such as a combo of Oppo/Roku/AppleTV for all the extra app-goodness for 'speed-sake.' I think the menus looks nice but just doesn't work for me.
