I really liked these pens so much that I tried to figure out what was wrong with that blue cap.
Turns out it's not the caps fault, it fits and stays on to the red and black pens. The problem was that the barrel of the back end of the blue pen was too narrow. Fixed the problem by wrapping a single layer of clear tape on the barrel.
Love these pens and love the way they write and hold however, 1 major flaw that is really annoying. Out of the 3 pens, on the blue one the cap does not stay attached to the back of the pen. In other words, when you remove the cap from the front and put it on the back, for the blue pen, it simply does not stay on and falls right off. For the red and black ones the cap stays attached to the back of the pen however these are not cheap pens and 2 out of 3 just doesn't cut it.
I have attached a photo of the pen that I have.
These also draw thicker lines than the metal body pen despite being listed as the exact same diameter felt tip on the packaging.
There's a reason the refills are more expensive than whole new plastic pens - they won't let you swap the insides.
If you are looking to use this pen for general writing, go with the metal body version instead - it looks identical but it is not. These would be very good for labeling or other larger marking tasks.
1. They don't bleed through paper. I like to highlight, underline, emphasize, note, etc. in my books, on tests, and everywhere else! These Sharpie fine points work great for that because they do not bleed through to the other side of the paper. There is nothing more distracting while reading than seeing a highlight or note bleed through to other side.
2. They are fantastic to write with. I don't like gel pens, as they can be slippey and messy. Ball point pens are nice but I tend to clog them or they dry out,. Pencils need too much maintenance for me, and are a little grippy. These Sharpies write smoothly, but you can still tell you're writing... not painting. I need tactile feedback and these give me that.
3. The three-pack gives you a great color choice. I've not need anymore while studying. Black is my daily user, red comes for highlighting and correction, and blue is used as a minor point highlighter in my system of notes.
4. These are well-built. I have a couple that have gone through the year with me. I've managed not to lose them (I think the silver helps) and they feel like they could go on for longer.
The only con I can think of is that these are capped pens instead of clickable, but it looks like in this Sharpie product I might have an answer: http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Retractable-Fine-Point-Colored-1753177/dp/B002HWRK3E
Are you a student needing some pens for study? You can't go wrong with Sharpie Fine Points.
I'm gonna keep these at work. If they go missing, I won't shed a tear.
I write pretty frequently and was hesitant after reading some previous reviews about the tips drying out if you use them for more than a couple of minutes at a time. I have used these heavily for several hours at a time without fail or signs of drying out on me. I do however always store them tip down so that might help.
