Loved these for making mugs!

I used these to decorate mugs for Xmas gifts and they were a huge hit!
If you are planning to use these for mugs I would recommend wiping the mugs with alcohol before painting. Then let them dry for 1-2 days(I did two and haven't had any fading issues with hand washing.) Don't wait longer than that. I had some left for a week and the designs wiped right off after I baked them.
Next, put the mugs in the oven then turn the oven on to 350°(too hot will warp the color and the gold will look more bronze).
When the oven reaches 350° leave the mugs in for an additional 30 minutes.
Leave them in the oven overnight or until cool to touch. Wait 72 hours before use and make sure you wash them before use. Just a simple hand wash.

I usually do not write reviews, mainly because I'm lazy. I have been using these pens for a couple of months and the work great. I work in manufacturing and I use these pens for writing on metal parts. They do a great job of writing in both raw metal and painted surfaces, even with dirt and oil present. The color is bright and noticeable, and the flow is consistent (as long as you keep the cap on while not in use) it drys quickly and does not easily come off. But the real reason that I'm writing this review, is because I just pulled the black marker out of the washer, which was full of my clothes and my dry-fit shirts. The cap stayed on during the entire washing cycle and not one drop of ink was spilled!!! I'm sure this is not a feature that Sharpie designed, but as usual, products that are well built surpass the manufactures claims in surprising ways.

p.s. if you ever leave the pen uncapped, just dip the tip on a little bit of alcohol (I usually use a water bottle cap) until the flow resumes and the alcohol turns the color of the pen!!!

Woohoo sharpie mugs!

I bought these sharpies because I read it was possible for me to use them to decorate mugs. My goal was to personalize dollar store mugs and gift them for Christmas.

This is probably not the ideal use for these oil sharpies, but in all I think the designs were as durable as you'd expect.
I mean, I wouldn't recommend putting your sharpie designed mugs in the dishwasher but for light hand washing the designs have held up well.

You can use computer fonts you've found online. Type what you would like on the mug and print it out.

Once it's printed, cut around the designs (or words). Then, use a pencil on the blank side of the paper and shade. Once the back of the design is shaded on tape it carefully onto the side of the mug where the design will go.

With the same pencil trace over the design and once you remove the small paper from the mug the design will have transferred over!

Once you have the outline of the design, using the sharpies will be a breeze.

Yes, I love these sharpies. No, the designs don't last forever. Yes, I would recommend them. :)

Everyone who says it doesn't work insnt letting the ink cure for 3 days and isn't baking the cups hot enough. IMPORTANT: put them in oven cold (after 3 days), let it heat with them in it to 450, then bake 30 min, then turn oven off and leave in there till oven cools down. Don't temperature shock your mugs.

Great marker but STARTING RIGHT and having patience is key!

I read a lot of reviews about this type of marker so I thought I'll throw mine in the mix to help others make their decision. This marker does work great - paper, glass, the surface of blu-rays and DVD's - but preparation is key. I mean this only when you're first using it, like straight out of the pack. With subsequent uses, it was like using any marker. First, SHAKE IT!! Back and forth, for at least 45 seconds to a minute. Then, take a piece of paper and then just keep pressing the tip up and down on the paper. Nothing will happen at first, this is normal and it will take a little while. I think this is just the ink coming down into that tip. With me, it did take a while and then there was a great big SPLAT of ink. After a few more presses, I tried writing with it and it was completely fine. I store it horizontally and even if there was a week or so between uses, I have had no problems with it. I hope this helps!

I had a last minute art project to do and needed an oil based pen to right on a canvas with and saw they had extra fine in silver, exactly what i needed. This is my first time using an oil based sharpie pen and extra fine point.
Shipping was amazing as always, once i started to use the pen I was happy and left stress free because it was going to work.
After the 17th character, the marker decides to act up. You can see the difference in the marker and see where I started to struggle at with it. It started to become dry and would not reload like a paint pen should. It blobs very easily and unless you're very careful it will drip.. which in my case it dripped onto the painting and yeah.. Not sure what to do now
You mostly waste more of the paint then use it because you want the tip to reload and it refuses to do so
I know not to recommend this product to customers at my work

Pro:
- True color

Cons:
- Blobs very easily, unless you're careful it will drip and cause issues
- So messy
- Pressing the tip down a couple times to get it to absorb more ink results in it pouring out from the entire tip and not just the point which results in more mess and a lot of wasted paint
- Trying to mess with it for awhile, you get high from the smell
- Pressing the tip down a couple times and still doesn't work like it should and just goes right back to being dry

The delivery was faster than expected. It gave me a week from purchase date. They arrived within 3 days of purchase date. Very pleased. I used them last night on normal, plain white mugs. I'd seen an idea on Pinterest to decorate mugs with lovely, personal designs as ideas for presents. The instructions specifically stated you needed "oil based" sharpie pens. After looking in every stationery shop I could find, I then had to look online. Although, these are a little bit on the expensive side, they work wonders. A little difficult to get them to start working, but when they did, they come out fabulous. On the mugs, I use ordinary facial wipes to remove any mistakes I may have made. It works. All is left to do now is leave the mugs for a few days and then put them in the oven, for a little while. This is supposed to make the colours more bolder. We'll see if this works.
Hopefully, the pens will last a long time, but they are fab and work really well. My only problem is, for my use of them, I have no need for the white pen.

Great fun, check out pintrest for ideas, bake at 150 for 30 min - no higher or it ruins the colours. Store tip down or they will dry up. Use on mugs, glasses etc....
