Top Customer Reviews
As you can see from my video, this writes very similarly to a regular ball-point pen, except it is just a tiny bit darker. Before I got my first Sharpie Pen, I worried that it would just be another Sharpie marker. But, it doesn't look at all like a marker when you use it. It really looks like a pen. If you look really closely, the tip still looks like a marker, but I think they use special ink and a process to get it to look almost exactly like pen writing and not marker writing.
When I first saw that it was "no bleed," I didn't believe it. Plus, I thought they were talking about how substandard pens will leak all over your fingers. When I was doing crossword puzzles on an airplane, with a ballpoint pen, then I'd always get leaky pen ink all over my fingers. I'm happy to report that this pen fulfills its promises, and doesn't bleed. It both doesn't bleed through the paper, and it doesn't get all over my hands when I'm doing crossword puzzles, even on an airplane.
It's extremely comfortable, lightweight, and doesn't take up much space. This feels so nice to write with and draw with, too. If you're wondering if 12 is too many, then it's not. I guarantee that you'll love this pen.
+The best pen in the world
+Looks great and feels great in your hand
+Really doesn't bleed
+Amazing pen technology
-All your friends will want to take your pen
They do not smear while writing like so many other pens do. They also do not bleed through unless you use really thin, cheap notebook paper or press down really hard, and they have bold ink that doesn't fade or run out. I hate having to scribble with a dying pen to get it to work, but do not experience this problem when using these pens. My hand also hurts considerably less using these pens compared to a pencil, especially after an hour of note writing in lectures.
I uploaded several pictures of my English notes to show buyers the lack of smearing, lack of bleeding through, and bold color you get when using these pens.
Writing utensil snobs rejoice!
Also, I am left-handed and don't have trouble with these smudging. The only exception is when I use them on glossy stock, like greeting cards. Then you have to let them air dry for a while before even closing the card or they will smear.
Please rate this review helpful if it gave you insight on your purchasing decision. I would definitely recommend this little Sharpie to family and friends in search of a great everyday pen. Enjoy!
First, the nib can bend if too much pressure is applied over time, not sure if that will apply to this pen, but I will update if it does!
Second, there appears to be WAY less ink in the black retractable pen. After using one of those pens to take notes in class, like 2-3 pages a day, the pen ran out after a little over 2 months. After some investigation, since some other users of that pen had the same issue, I found this article comparing the ink cartridges of the available Sharpie pens: http://officesupplygeek.com/pen-review/felt-or-plastic-tip/inside-your-sharpie-pen/ .
Long story short, get these Original Sharpie pens over the retractable version because they have larger ink cartridges = more ink. The cartridge is smaller in diameter in the grip version Sharpie pen, which could lead to less ink, but I've never used those pens because they are more expensive at retail stores than the other versions.
