In addition to receiving a sample of the 24 piece ultra-fine set of Sharpies which include the five limited edition colors, I also purchased both the Ultra-fine and the Fine Point in the Color Burst Limited Edition five piece set. I use my Sharpies on a regular basis but am always looking for new colors to add.

The Color Burst shades definitely are a welcome addition to my set of Sharpie colors. If you are looking for just a set of 24 colors, I think buying the set of 24 with these shades would do well for you. If you are looking, as I did, to add on and get the most colors available, I suggest that you buy the standard 24 set and then buy the three available limited edition five piece sets (Color Burst, 80's Glam, and Electro Pop.)

The new shades are: Brilliant Blue, Jetset Jade, Supersonic Yellow, Racey Red, and Powder Pink. The colors fill in missing shades. I found that the Blue was a medium true blue (not leaning to indigo or cyan.) The Jade is a lighter version of the deeper jade tone. Supersonic Yellow is simply not yellow. It is a light lime yellow and looks more green than it does yellow. The Red is really welcome as it has warmer tones compared to the two reds that I have that are more winter red (with blue tones.) Finally, the pink is another favorite of mine. It is a true fuchsia shade. I've found the other deep pinks in Sharpies to either be shaded toward purple or peach. I've had to use other brands of alcohol-based pens when I wanted a deep pink but no longer.

I love lots of colors to choose from. I've made a template with colors within the Sharpie line that are in each color group, i.e. Color Burst, Electro Pop, and 80's Glam. A lot of the color families are close and most might be happy with the basics but I say.. "Keep them coming, Sharpie!" I love having a choice of purples, pinks, reds, blues etc.

Racey Red is a brighter red, Power Pink has a little more pink (more of a true hot pink) in it than the purplish pink found in Magenta. Supersonic yellow is more of a bright, light greenish yellow. It's sort of in between the Neon Yellow and a Yellow Foray Highlighter in the template I made. The Jetset Jade is sort of in between the Green and Mint. The Brilliant Blue is sort of a cross between Turquoise and Blue I believe. Hopefully my pictures help more than my description. ;)

The top half of the 1st photo has the colors in this set. There are colors from the other special sets from Sharpie and comparisons of similar colors among the flowers too.

The last picture has a template with a quick comparison of the special colors that I found on the Prismacolor website. If you interested, go to Prismacolor.com, products, colored pencils and at the very bottom right hand side of the page you will see a light green pencil that says download here. It's been very helpful for quick comparisons of colors.

I can never have too many art supplies. If you saw my basement, you would see how true that is. These pens are super fine point, and they are perfect for really detailed artwork. You can use them just like you would a regular sharpie, just that they are more precise, and the flow of color is very narrow, less bleeding.

So just like other standard Sharpie markers, these are permanent. Be careful what you mark on in other words. Love the color selection and the range. This is very much the adult version of magic markers. Love them.

I am a Sharpie devotee. I use them for my artwork that is mostly pen and pencil drawings. I do a lot of fine detail work and use these ultra-fine point pens. What is nice about Sharpie is their consistency for color, with the exception of these special 24 packs they put out every once in a while. This particular order washroom "Color Burst " and I received the “80’s Glam Color”. So, I'll have to review the 80s glam.

When they do these specialty series (for lack of a better name), they basically give you nineteen of the traditional color of pens and trade out five of their normal colors for five brand new color introductions. With the “80’s Glam Color” series the specialty colors are as follows:

- Power Pink,
- Racy Red,
- Super Sonic Yellow,
- Jet Set Jade, and
- Brilliant Dove.

Since I started with Sharpies, I have just stuck with them over the years. There are still a few issues I have with the Sharpie Brand. I wish they would code their pens with either a color name or number. Because as you change from one pen type it another (i.e., fine point to ultra-fine point), a few of the colors are so close, you cannot go by the color of the cap to match colors. Since there is no name or number, you end up going to a scrap piece of paper to ensure you are picking the equivalent matching color. This taking your eyes off of the art piece you are working on. I also wish there was one more level of pens smaller than the ultra-fine point. The ultra-fine point still leaves a lot of ink on the paper. If your pen rests for even a moment in time, the ultra-fine point pen will puddle. They are really only good for drawing, -- as they simply bleed through standard college rule paper.
