About the Author

Gene Sharp is the founder of the Albert Einstein Institution and Professor Emeritus of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He is the author of more than a dozen books that have been translated into over 60 languages. His works include Gandhi as a Political Strategist, Waging Nonviolent Struggle: 20th Century Practice and 21st Century Potential and Nonviolent Action: A Research Guide. Sharp's writings have had a direct effect on nonviolent resistance tactics around the globe, from Iran to Venezuela to Russia.

but this is not always true . occasionally a headless corpse finds itself catapulted form the very tippy top of the Pecking Pyramid . the point where the Evil All-Seeing-Eye is seated . occasionally the Supreme Deity that is seated at the very tippy top of the Pecking Pyramid is found by the Powerful Pecking Players to be no longer properly serving them or, heaven forbid, the Supreme Leader no longer has the "proper" thinking equipment .

this completes the description of the Animal Kingdom

(note: Animal Kingdom thought is diametrically opposed to Kingdom of Heaven thought )

A good number of the definitions however are blindingly obvious, and some I found questionable. The subject is dressed up as an academic work, but does a relatively straightforward subject need to be presented as so complicated?

Das Buch ist ein Lexikon mit ein paar einführenden Texten. Die Beschreibungen im Lexikon sind gut, so weit ich sie bisher gelesen habe. Allerdings wäre es besser, wenn man im Inhaltsverzeichnis nicht nur "Dictionary" findet, sondern die einzelnen Begriffe. Es gibt dann noch einmal eine Extraliste mit allen Begriffen, aber auch hier kann man nirgends direkt zu den Begriffen kommen. Über die Suchfunktion werden mir alle Stellen im Buch genannt, was durch Querverweise sehr viel sein kann. Um also zu einem Begriff zu kommen, muss ich also viele Seiten durchblättern oder ich beginne mit einer Seitenschätzung und blättere dann. Dies finde ich einen gravierenden Nachteil, deshalb nur 3 Sterne. In einem Buch ist dies einfacher, da ich schneller blättern kann.
