Emma is the rich daughter of a socialite and a rock star. Jesse is the boy from the trailer park on scholarship. They shouldn't have anything in common. But something draws them together. Jesse has preconceived notions about Emma, but she proves him wrong. She is actually caring, sweet and non judgmental. Jesse is tough and not used to forming attachments. But they get under each other's skin. Life is not so simple and there are conflicts and complications.

(Quote)I was trying my hardest to avoid her, but for some reason, she kept pulling me back in. I didn't belong in her world, but she didn't even seem to care about that. She was the one bright spot I'd found at my new school even if I didn't act like it.

I loved Jesse. He lived his whole life feeling unworthy, but he is trying to make something of himself. He is intelligent, talented, handsome, and truly a nice guy. He has a couple of longtime friends and a loving mom, but still does not trust or open up easily. He is thrust in an uncomfortable situation with people who do not want him there, but he holds his head high and made the best of it.

(Quote)This boy looked like a fallen angel and a surfer boy all rolled into one, and I wanted to wrap myself around him.

Emma has not followed the path of her rich society loving mother. She does not care about social status or money. Although she is not ashamed to use her money to help others. She is a good person despite her mother's influence. She does not hold Jesse's social status or background against him. But she is under tremendous pressure to live the life her mother sees fit and socialize with the upper crust of society.

"Are you scared of me?"~Jesse
"Truthfully? A little.

The couple are in high school Emma is from a wealthy family. Her father is in a big name rock band and her mother is a retired super model. Jesse is from a trailer park poor area of town that has only a mother who works as a waitress to survive. Jesse has won a scholarship to attend the Prestige Private School for the rich. He hates it and forms an opinion on all rich people. Emma's mother is that snobby bit$h that will not have her daughter associating with poor people. Emma has her own mind and a very loving, giving, and caring girl. She falls for Jesse and she would do anything for him but tell her mother. One day it all comes to a head. When her mother rants on about where her daughter status should be with the rich. While Jesse stood hiding in the closet listening to the craziness. After he leaves and goes off in this head and gets drunk. Well, red flags and accusations are thrown around. Everyone gets hurt nothing is solved and 2 years pass so that you can buy the next book to see what will happen. So, this is about a teenage love story one is rich and one is poor. Do they let that bother them to a path of happiness? My opinion of the story, Jesse is supposed to be this big strong tattoo guy from the trailer park that is apparently book smart. He categorize everyone to a certain status of poor but humble or rich and snobby. He even places Emma in that box even though she as proved to him time and time again she is not that person. Was the book likeable? I dislike teenagers acting like little kids but then again that is what they are. 17 going on 18 but sometimes acts like a 12 year old. This is a Young Adult book. Storyline: 2.5 Heat: 3 Overall: 3 Recommend: only if you like YA books or high school drama.

I had book 1 and 2 for a while and decided to finally read them back to back. I cannot believe I haven't read these sooner. I love Robinson's books! She outdone herself with this series! This was a thrilling YA suspense with some mature rated themes full of twisted discoveries through out the journey of Jesse Daniels and Emma Preston! Get it now!

"There's something between us that ties us together." "I like being tied to you. Just promise not to shatter me."

I'm usually a little skeptical when I read a book and the characters are in high school, mainly because it's too immature for me. Too many authors play it safe and don't accurately portray what teenagers actually do. However, I loved this story and never felt that it was holding back for societal norms. The main characters were truly likeable and I enjoyed the overall premise of not judging a book by it's cover, on both sides of the fence. This was one of the few books I've read that had a male POV that was actually believable as well.

The only thing I found a little confusing/unbelievable was Jesse's mom wanting to move (won't say if she does or not). I understand you can't choose when you meet someone you love but she really pushed Jesse to accept the scholarship in order to attend this prestigious school, but yet, a month later she wants him to move and give it up? Seemed unrealistic, and I wish there would've been more reasoning there so I could've believed it more.

I read some of the reviews and it appeared some people didn't like that the epilogue was two years later, but I love it. The characters will be more grown up and we'll get to see another side of them.
