The lather is very good, but I need more time to determine how much water to use. I may be lathering too dry, because it starts to dry up as I'm finishing each pass. So far, this has not been a problem, and has not affected my shave. But if you are too slow, you may need more water than I use. If drying early is a problem, it is minor. And I think that I can solve it with more water, or with distilled water (my water is moderately hard). The lubrication is very good, on par with the best I have used.
Since this costs so little, I recommend any wet shaver to try it. Half the fun of wet shaving is exploring all the great products we have these days.
Edit: I tried this soap with more water, and it lathers perfectly. Part of my problem was trying this soap with a new and unfamiliar brush. Also, the scent is not as subtle as I first thought, but still rather mild in my opinion.
Smells like your typical Turkish shaving stick (Arko,GZD,). So keep in mind if those scents bother you. It's tallow based but it didn't leave that slight dry feeling I get from most tallow soaps. This soap is a great performer! Don't let the price or the lesser known company name fool you.
The shave felt better than Arko, Williams, or GZD. (IMHO). It's up there with any of the more expensive soaps. Go Turkey!!
The Panasonic quad-linear plus the Shaving Factory soap is total dynamite - shaves better than a Mach 3 blade plus brushed lather. Not one razor bump (I always got these a blade, which is why I switched to electric).
I find this soap works best without a brush. Wet face thoroughly with hot water, wash face with soap. Don't rinse and instead massage face and work up a light lather with your hands.
Shave, occasional wetting hands and apply to face as lather can dry up, and lose some slipperiness. Leaves my face as smooth as a baby's cheek and smells fantastic.
The people who said it has a "subtle scent," or an almost indistinguishable fragrance must be stopped up.
I won't buy it again.

Great lather. The scent is rather strong though. Kind of like a strong soap scent.Published 13 months ago by VZ in Pgh
