A Mulher-Hulk de John Byrne, com sua protagonista ciente de sua situação como personagem de HQ e falando com o público e seus criadores, é um clássico do humor super-heroístico! Diversão até dizer chega!
This book was both one of the best purchases I've made in the last several years and one of the most disappointing.
The BEST part was the 9 issues by John Byre (plus the couple of bonus promo stories leading up to them) are some of the best comics of that era, by Byrne or anyone else. This is the comic Byrne was born to write - irreverant, yet lovingly touching on the full history of Marvel (and then some) comics going all the way back to the golden age, all delivered in a goofy style only Byrne could pull off. There's a reason they keep reprinting these.
The rest is a mixed bag at best. None of it is terrible, but most is pedestrian both in art and writing, even the issues by Steve Gerber (a personal favourite) just lack the "zip" of the Byrne issues. The included graphic novel (ceremony) is important for her character as it ends the relationship with Wyatt definitely, but is an average outing with somewhat lack-luster art (though they were clearly going for something, it just doesn't quite work). Some of the little bonus materials from Marvel Age are fun, but are definitely not something to buy a book for (though a collected edition of the best of those would be appreciated by people who fondly remember the era).
Overall, if you're buying this for the Byrne stuff they play in the write ups, you won't be disappointed with the 10ish comics in there of that, but be aware that about half of this book is NOT that.
My overall rating is 4 stars: 5 for the Byrne stuff - averaged with 3 for the other stuff. So, still a VERY worthwhile purchase, especially since the epic collections with only the Byrne stuff often go for significantly more than that (when you can find 'em).
