I wanted to use it backpacking to help me get wood, however there is a major problem with the design: it's too small. Your knuckles around the handle will be out slightly further than the hatchet head - so you can't swing to hard else you can miss and really hurt yourself (might as well just punch wood).
Everything about it is sharp so it's not comfortable to hold it or take out the other tools, but the hatchet part is not sharp enough (I am sure I could go sharpen it but I am no expert and I don't care to put in the extra work).
The best part of it is the saw, but it's too small and won't be too useful backpacking. You are better off getting gloves to break wood manually. If you are just camping get a real saw. If this is for a survival bag it could be good because it is so small.
The kids enjoyed trying to use it to get kindling off of wood. And it's not too sharp to be unsafe so I was o.k. with letting them try it out.
The little rubber safety piece comes too easily off the axe blade but it never was a problem and miraculously was never lost.
The carrying case works as expected and seems durable.
The summary is that for the money this is an incredible little device. The quality is not super-mega-high but for the money I can't figure out how they made this.
