Ron Tutt and Jim Keltner are fantastic. This is a recording from 30 years ago, and is still considered a reference disc. It will tell you if your system is working properly, just make sure you have the volume at a safe level the first time you play the disc. You have to have this in your library.

The Sheffield Lab Drum & Track Disc (DXD Master) The drum solos on tracks 1 and 2 are what made me purchase this CD and are great tools to use to audition a 2-channel system and perhaps even a home theater system as well. This CD is not cheap, but because it's so well recorded makes it not a bad deal for the audiophile or technician looking to test out a hi-fi system.

Well, if you're looking at this that means you know what this disc is all about, setting up your system to its fullest potential. As a recording engineer this is a blueprint for killer tones as well.

I have the DXD version of this disc. DXD gives you stereo SACD sound quality without the need for a SACD player as it plays on all CD players. The purpose of this disc is to show show you where the sonic faults in your system are. That is if there are any. The sound quality of this disc is amazing. If this disc doesn't sound right thru your system then it's your system that's at fault and you'll know where. The last four tracks provide some pretty good music as well. HIGHLY recommended!!!

The best transfer I have yet to hear - the original Sheffield transfer to CD sounds by comparison totally dead.

This disc is a MUST HAVE, you need the first 2 track to calibrate your system and other track to evaluate the sound reproduced by your system, you can bring it with you and help your friend (or play it in other audiophile's system) to maintain a "sound standard".

I've own it since the very old release (not by FIM), but I bought this and found that XRCD24 process did increase the clarity and detail much more.

Never miss it, or you're not serious about the sound?
