Editorial Reviews

Review

"One of the most anticipated of the fall releases happens to be one of THE BEST of the fall releases! Halliday and Rey have joined forces to create a SUPERLATIVE new cozy mystery series that will leave readers clamoring for more."
--Diane Morasco, Blogcritics Reviews

From the Author

In the original, classic Sherlock Holmes novels Martha Hudson is Sherlock's long-suffering housekeeper and landlady. She doesn't get a whole lot of page time, as those novels are mostly male driven. Which had us thinking...what if wecould spin it around a bit in our modern re-telling? What if it wasn't the men who were the brilliant minds but the women behind the scenes? So, with a little twist and a little spin, our thoroughly modern Marty was born.

But Marty needed a sidekick--a partner in crime and the"Watson" to her "Sherlock." We immediately thought of one of the most famous female characters in the Sherlock stories, Irene Adler. In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes novels, Irene is referred to as the only woman who could ever match wits with Holmes himself and is sometimes thought of as the love of his life. So, while we knew we wanted to modernize the original Victorian opera singer, Irene, we still wanted to keep some of the elements that made her a legend. She had to be beautiful, smart, and have an adventurous spirit. In fact, if you ask Marty, she might even blame Irene for staring the whole Sherlock Holmes legend in the first place...
