Hundreds of years of Robin Hood tales have created a variety of possible Scarlets, Tucks, Little Johns, Muchs, and Robins from which to choose. Ms Cramer has chosen well: when she colors a little outside the lines, it only serves to enhance the true spirit of these characters. Her heroine, the loner Kay uncomfortable in her own time but who finds friends, family, and love (with the most intriguing Will Scarlet I've ever come across) in Sherwood is just as believable. Her adjustment to the demands of the period and the outlaw life is neither skipped over nor rushed. Nor does Ms Cramer ignore what most likely happened to the outlaws after King Richard's death. The change in Robin is devastating but beautifully handled. Equally beautifully handled is the pain for Kay of knowing but not quite knowing the detailed future of those she has come to love. For these reasons, the tale's ending seems earned for once. The only change I would make is to include the short story from the website as part of the actual epilogue, because Will and Paul have adjustments of their own to make, and the readers will want to see them in the novel itself.
This is technically a young adult novel, but all that seems to mean is that the reader is spared the monotonously detailed and actually unsexy intercourse descriptions of many time-travel romances. The violence depicted is appropriate to the time, place, and story. This is not an over wrought Middle Ages where murder and rapine are hourly occurrences, but when men and women who have been outlawed unjustly are fighting for their very existence, death is unavoidable. Arrows may kill at a distance, but swordplay is as close up and bloody as it comes.
As a very grown up historian and Robin Hood aficionado, I look forward to reading "Sherwood Rogue" again and again.
Kaye has had an unhappy life due to circumstances beyond her control. Stepping through the portal into the unknown was an easy choice, IMO. Becoming part of Robin Hood's men gave her a chance to belong for the first time in her life. She really blossomed and grew throughout the story. I love kickass women who can take care of themselves.
I highly recommend reading Sherwood Rogue. It is well-written and kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next.
Kay is staying in the mountains at her uncle's cabin. She needs to get out. The next thing she knows - Kay has been time warped into days of Robin Hood. She finds herself one his loyal band. But can she change the outcome of what happens to Robin Hood and his men?
You will need to read this fanasting story to find out. This book has been Rated PG 17 due to the violence in the book. I recommend this book to all that love a good Romance- Historical - Young Adult .
This is a great book for anyone looking for a Robin Hood retelling.

But... I was interested to find out how Kristi would tackle writing this.
It exceeded all expectations. I read it in about 8 hours start to finish - I could not put it down - inbetween sorting the kids tea and usual daily stuff. (I don't know what I'd do without my kindle app on my phone!!).
I loved the story. The characters... There was once scene at the end where the twist happens and I was heartbroken....
I loved the way Kristi wrote it. It's now one of my old friends... Thank you Kristi. And the bonus book at the end of the story was amazing.
Now - what happens next?!!
