The driver delivered the chair to my front step, but no further. Although the box was big and heavy, it was not particularly unwieldy; I was able to move the box by myself. Unpacking and assembling the chair took less than 10 minutes.
Oddly the chair looks better in person than in the photos, which makes it look somewhat rumpled. The chair is sleek and attractive looking. Although the material wouldn't fool anyone into thinking it's leather, it does not feel like a cheap vinyl. The material is supple and soft, and pleasing to the touch. The chair is narrower than I expected, so someone with a wide frame may find it a tight fit. It's just fine for me, though.
The massage aspects of the chair are fantastic. I was particularly impressed by the variety of massages; there are five different types, plus "auto" which seems to be a combination. The five types can be adjusted by speed, width, and either full body or isolated to specific areas.
I'm 6'2" and in an upright position, the overall massage reaches from the base of my neck to my lower back. In a fully reclined position, the massage reaches from the top of the neck to just above my lower back.
The sounds made by the mechanics of the chair are not noisy, but they are noticeable. I also do not find the chair very comfortable to sit in as just a recliner, with the message unit turned off. These are very minor quibbles though. The chair is far better than much more expensive chairs I have tried out.
Our problem is the remote for the chair or something else stopped working. My husband called the manufacturer. He would have been happy to pay for help or parts. My husband asked if he could purchase a part to fix it - if not, could they send a manual to repair it, or if he could talk to someone with suggestions, and they blew him off, said that they had nothing to do with the chair and don't even work with Amazon. The original vendor for the chair (Cherise) also blew us off by email and on the phone. What I gather is that everyone to do with the chair is Chinese, they won't talk to you, they made up some lies and they don't care about their customers. We didn't ask for anything for free, we would have gladly paid for parts, but they just blew us off. I guess we'll have to throw it away.
Fast forward a little while, my twins are now three months old, my older son is 16 months. Having three babies makes it quite hard to get out to the Chiropractor, but I knew that if I did not continue to work on it, I would die trying to care for the three of them. (Bending and lifting were my specific difficulties.) After talking with my hubby, we decided to invest in a chair we could have a home so that I can stop throughout the day and care for my back without needing to bundle everyone up, and carry all three of them out to the car.
I did do a bit of research as I didn't want to waste my money obviously. I did worry a little bit about this chair not being very good just because it seemed so much cheaper then some others and the one at my Chiropractors office was a name brand. I read lots of reviews though and became pretty confident that this chair would work for me. It came a few days later and I have loved it so much! I sit in it most days, occasionally twice a day, and generally do the programmed massage that is 15 minutes I think. Afterwards I will sometimes adjust the chair to massage the exact spots that I need more work on. It is really nice to be able to adjust right where the knobs are so you can target specific places. This is true for the back anyways, not the seat or leg massaging parts. The chair is very good for someone that needs their back actually worked on, however I would not recommend it if you just want a relaxing comfortable soft massage. This things works your back kinda rough which is helpful, but not necessarily super relaxing. It is made for getting knots out, loosening you up, and getting your back healthy again and so it has been a life saver for me and I absolutely love it! I have never been in a chair that so thoroughly gets your low back and butt the way this one does, and that is exactly my trouble zone so I am extremely happy about that! The only thing I am not a huge fan of is the way that the controller makes the back recline and the feet go up together so you can't just do one or the other. Not a big deal though for me.
One more thing to throw out there, I like that this chair does have the shoulder height adjustment which is great for people like me who are just barely 5 feet tall. When I put my tush all the way back, I have it on the second to shortest setting and it works great. My feet do not reach all the way out of the leg massagers thought so I get a bonus foot massage! :)
The quality is cheep, if you have young kids around it they can hurt themselves.
