When I heard the first track Shine, I knew this CD was the best they had done. The Vocals and tracks were so HOT!!! I had to buy 3 copies of this CD. This CD you could listen to it over and over. This CD will not lose its time. Actually Five Star has always been a step ahead of the industy. To be honest this album should be re-released for 2003 and promo tour defintely.

Despite UK press reports that the band were finished and that they had fled to the US amidst reports of bankruptcy, Five Star re-located themselves in Van Nuys, California in August 1990 and begun work on their 7th studio album, Shine.

Recorded in late 1990 and early 1991, the band went for a well polished, clean-cut and crystal clear sound that smacked of the LA & Babyface, swingbeat/new jack sound that was huge at the time. This was their 2nd album for Epic Records after the failed 'Five Star' album in 1990 (which incidentally was never released in the UK).

Denise was back as lead singer and this album really proved she was the voice of Five Star. Her voice is strong, mature and powerful showing that she can match the vocal gymnastics of Mariah, Whitney and Celine.

With 10 tracks recorded and some of the best songwriters/producers based in LA contributing to the album, Five Star could not have produced a better album that could propel them to the US Market.

Denise produced all of the vocal arrangements on all 10 tracks (even Lorraine's 'The Start of Forever' - which incidentally is written by Sue Sheridan who wrote 'Can't Wait Another Minute' for 5 Star in 1986). The album is produced by Ian Prince, Zac Harmon, Christopher Troy, Michael Jay and Five Star's father/manager, Buster Pearson.

Five Star were looking as sexy as ever and had matured like a fine wine. The sequinned costumes had gone, the music was slicker than ever and the album is bright, fresh, funky, up-tempo and so catchy.

Highlights for me are Denise's self penned, 'Some Kind Of Magic', the lead track, 'Shine', 'Come To Me For Love' and 'Sentimental'.

I always love Five Star since they came on to the scene in 1983. Lead vocalist Denise Pearson definitely shines on this CD. Check out her best vocal ability on such as "Shine" "Come to me for love" "Save a Place in your heart for me" But overall the entire CD is wonderful.
