Out of all the stories she read to us, this was one of my favorites of all time. This, my freinds is why I like Dr. Who! Being able to travel through time and space, albeit only on Earth, but the adventures they had! Wow! I can't wait to read this myself, a half century later, with great expectations...I wonder what the film rights might cost?
It's a story of a young boy who falls in love with a model of a wee Viking ship, small enough to fit in his pocket." "how much is it?" "All the money in the world, and a little bit over" said the shopkeeper. Peter had a total of three shillings - two pence of which were not his.....
The ship took him, his brother and two sisters on many adventurous journeys across time and space to whatever destination they chose.
Before I read it, for extra interest I tried to remember everything I could about it. It was amazing to me that I could remember so many little details, even some of the expressions that the children used.
I intend to read it to my grandchildren when the time comes.
