I was borrowing this cookbook from our county library, so I finally bought my own copy I live in Michigan and this cookbook not only has some great recipes from the ships galley's but it also gives a background and history on each ship.

I received this cookbook as a wedding gift. My dad works on the Great Lakes freighters and gave it to my mom who passed it on to me. I haven't had any bad results with any of the recipes. Many of the larger recipes that yield 24 or 30 servings are already broken down to a more manageable 6 servings which was really convenient.

Having grown up in the Great Lakes area, I was happy to find this book and what a great book it is. Welcome aboard to some of the grandest ships ever to sail the Great Lakes. Not only do you see the various ships but the hosts and sailors themselves have personally tested each recipe and wholeheartedly stand behind the meals they serve.

The book opens with facts about each of the Great Lakes.
Chapters include [1] Introduction to Tall Ships [2] Introduction to Freighters [3] Introduction to Coast Guard [4] Introduction to Passenger Vessels [5] Introduction to Retired Ships [6] Introduction to Special Faces of the Great Lakes.

And what are tall ships? Tall ships can be schooners, brigantines, barquentines, brigs, sloops, or a barque like The United States Coast Guard's flagship EAGLE. You will enjoy the stories about each ship [pictured and dimensions given], as well as enjoy trying the recipes.
