Ashten becomes private chef to Trent, a savvy businessman. They have that immediate click, but they are too professional to act on it. Although this is a fast-moving novella, it had a slow-burn feeling to it. I could feel the tension between the two men build up. They are cute together, with witty banter and hot sex. It is not overly angsty and has a lighthearted vibe, but it has enough substance to keep me entertained. The family dynamics are super, especially with Ashten’s twin, Jesse. There is some drama coming from a crazy ex-chef. Trent’s reaction is well intentioned, but not very clever. It throws a bit of a spanner in their relationship, but that is solved rather quickly and satisfyingly.
All in all, a cute and fun read, which I can recommend wholeheartedly.
Ashten is a young chef who is seeking a job with the wealthy hotelier Trent. Sparks fly right away but they dance around their mutual attraction due to employer/employee status. The relationship between them turns from professional to friendly to sexy within weeks and they can't keep their hands from each other. Their bed sport was sexy and I liked reading that part. There were many fun moment with family and friends that made this book a lovely reading material.
Of course there was the baddie, the dastardly villain! There was no mystery of who or why but it added some excitement to the book and made it better. I liked this book because of how easy and engaging it was. A delightful read.
This story kept me smiling and giggling. It was sweet and an easygoing book. There was a little drama towards the end but it kept things interesting and I liked it.
I wanted more out of ALL of the characters. This is a short book and I wish it was longer to get more of Ashten and Trent's story. I also LOVED Jesse and his relationship with Ashten. I am excited to read the next book.

Their relationship is just starting when someone from Trents past hurts Ashten. Trent, trying to protect him, leaves Ashten when he needs him the most. Causing Ashten to think they are already done.
Cute story, however the drama of a stalker didn't really fit into the story for me. I would of rather had the time spent on them learning more about each other. This was a 3.5 stars for me. But because I liked the main characters and the supporting players, I'll give it 4.
Shoes & Ties is a sweet, short romance that centers around Ashten and Trent.
When Ashten starts working for Trent, the sparks fly. Ashten has landed by dream job, working for Trent, and has found his perfect man, in Trent. Unfortunately, someone is after Ashten.
I really enjoy Ashten and Trent. They are romantic and sweet together.
There are some good secondary characters who add to the story, some of whom get their own love story in the next book!
The story is fast paced, with a good plot and writing style. It is definitely a cute romance.
Reading Shoes & Ties is a good way to spend some of your day.
