The sound is very tinny when you’re above water, but going underwater kicks in the bass and makes it very comparable to traditional headphones. My only complaint is the lack of Bluetooth support. I understand the problems with wireless signals underwater, but I’d like to be able to try and connect to my smart watch. I’ve shifted to Apple Music, and there isn’t a way to cache songs from that service onto the device.

Absolutely fantastic product - it feels like it was designed by swimmers for swimmers. I've tried a few MP3 players for swimming - starting with the waterproof Nano. Sound quality, ease of use and durability were always the issue.

Pros:

Great sound quality. I swim in an Endless Pool and so the ambient noise of the water flowing/motor are higher than in a standard pool. I definitely needed to use the earplugs they include - but with them, absolutely perfect. I am careful to set the volume before I start swimming to make sure I keep it at a safe level. No issue at all with the bone conduction - love it. No - your teeth don't rattle! It feels exactly like an ear bud without the irritating bud in your ear.

Easy to use. When swimming - the logic of the buttons are a must. These are perfect. Super simple to tactically feel the volume/skip buttons. Loading it with music was the same as any standard MP3. Worth noting that the charging cable is ingenious! It's a pin charger which means contact is essential and the USB charger connects with a clasp that keeps it in exactly the right place - and it can hang off a charger etc without losing connection - brilliant.

Comfort. Anyone tired of having the quality of the music dependent on jamming the ear buds in to your ear and having to reposition them when they come loose will appreciate the bone conduction. As shown in the pictures - this wraps around the back of your head, comes over your ears and rests comfortably on the bone in front of your ear. I prefer to have a cap covering my ears which made these a bit awkward but giving that up, they are fine - and even swimming against a strong current in my Endless Pools these stay in position without any difficulty.

Thoughtful additions. Love the rubber case (ventilated no less). Very thoughtful addition of excellent quality ear plugs. Fantastic charging system as mentioned. Wonderful tactical feel to the rubberized skin around the ear phones - they just feel high quality (and the blue is really great looking!).

Great support. I was confused by the pre-loaded songs and thought I'd received a return from Amazon. Called them and was connected instantly. I don't always check up on customer service but when I know it's either particularly good or bad it's worth a mention.

Value. Relative to other solutions out there - I found this to be an outstanding value.

Comment on Lack of Blue Tooth: I would love it to have bluetooth for streaming Spotify - but that would mean having to have my very not waterproof iPhone on the pool deck which is just a bad idea for me. I tried and returned another system that was Bluetooth compatible and there are two issues that made it not worth the hassle. First - bluetooth doesn't travel through water so the device has to be carefully positioned and - at least in my case, the wi-fi signal where I swim isn't that strong and that means being organized enough to have offline playlists which I'm not. I'm sure this brand is going to figure it out but while swimming, I'm just happy to have tunes, it doesn't have to be my latest Spotify playlist.

Cons:

I haven't found a single one. I haven't had it long enough to test quality or battery/charge life but not concerned. For some, the lack of bluetooth and limitation of MP3 which means owning the music might be a negative.

Thanks to the team at Shokz - the extra effort shines through. Wonderful to see a brand go the extra mile (and cost) for a great customer experience and service.

Great sound! However, with my swim cap on top of it, it does start to hurt the top of my ear where it pushes against it. If I try on the outside of my cap then the sound quality isn't as good and it doesn't have a good hold to stay on.

Wife and I are both long time lap swimmers. And yes, doing endless laps does get boring, especially for my wife. She has used a variety of waterproof mp3 players over the years, but none have really worked well. We have always used mp3 players that used in-ear earbuds. These never worked well, as the buds had a tendency to fall out. Plus the wires were a hassle. After her latest pair of ear buds finally bit the dust, I decided to try and find something different. The SHOKZ OpenSwim came up as a top choice during my google searches. And I was interested in how a bone induction system would work. After just one use my wife was amazed at both the sound quality and how well they worked for lap swimming. Her major concern was how these would stay on during flip turns. But, that was not a problem at all. And no more wires to boot.

Some reviews have commented about how these headphones don't support streaming (via bluetooth). That is true, but you're unlikely to have *any* swimming headphones support bluetooth. Hint: bluetooth doesn't work under water past three feet. Maybe some day in the future this problem will be solved.

In addition to the great sound, these headphones are very well made. Construction and quality of materials is excellent.

Overall I am really impressed with the OpenSwim headphones. I'll be ordering my own pair soon.

Chatted with "Ed" from Shokz support. Tried a few things but no success. Even tried to erase and re-format. Nothing. The drive icon should have been titled "OpenSwim" instead it was "Unknown". Opened it and the songs were there but they weren't recognized when turned on the earphones. "Ed" sent me a new pair no charge. I liked "Ed".

With so many garbage products on the market, it's nice to find one that works as advertised and appears durable. I previously used Sony in-ear buds for swimming, which had great sound but started flooding after abut 6 months use and never recovered. With these bone conducting phones, you can listen to audio and still hear other sounds, great for cycling, etc. Work well for swimming, the sound is a bit muffled when in water, even with the 'swimming EQ" engaged, but still decent quality. Very happy with this purchase. One nice feature which would be nice is if it provided the battery level when turning it OFF, as well as on. Battery life when new seems to be about 8 hours.

Nadar es divertido, pero es cierto que puede ser algo monótono, por lo que escuchar música mientras lo haces es una buena idea de mejorar la experiencia. El problema es que los auriculares normales no van a funcionar bien en el agua aunque sean válidos para ello. Al final tienes que metértelos en el oído y es fácil que entre agua. Con estos eso no pasa, porque al ser reproducción por conducción ósea van por fuera del oído y puedes nadar igual que siempre (incluso llevar tapones que van incluídos si te gusta).

Como estos Shokz están pensados para ser usados mientras nadas, la marca ha hecho algunas concesiones que hay que tener en cuenta: no tienen bluetooth y solo reproducen archivos MP3 (creo que algún formato más). Lo bueno es que con eso han conseguido unos auriculares totalmente estancos. No puede entrar agua por ningún sitio, porque la única manera de conectarlos son unos pines metálicos que van a la base de carga. Se los ve robustos y tienen pinta de que van a durar para siempre (crucemos dedos).

En cuanto al sonido es bastante bueno, aunque es verdad que yo no soy muy sibarita. También hay que tener en cuenta que los vas a usar nadando y va a haber más ruido (como tu respiración, el agua y demás sonidos de la piscina), así que la calidad en ese entorno es más que suficiente. Los auriculares tienen dos modos, uno normal para escuchar fuera de la piscina y otro para cuando nadas. El sonido en el agua es especialmente bueno y dicen que mejora con tapones, aunque yo no los uso.

En cuanto a los botones, pues lo normal en un cacharro sin pantalla. Uno para encender y pausar; otros dos para subir y bajar el volumen, que también se usan para pasar canción; y otro que cambiar el modo entre piscina/normal, que también sirve para controlar la reproducción entre carpetas (normal, aleatorio y aleatorio en carpeta). Hay también una combinación para saltar a reproducir otra carpeta o seguir en la que estás. Lo justo para funcionar.

Son muy cómodos y pesan muy poco, así que no se nota que los llevas. No se pueden ajustar, así que a mi me sobra espacio por detrás. Para evitar perderlos el primer día los agarré con el gorro de piscina, pero me molestaron en las orejas, así que el resto de días los he llevado sin agarrar. No pasa nada porque no se van a a caer.

En cuanto a la marca, muy buena. Contacte con ellos para consultarles una duda y me la resolvieron rápido y sin problema.

En definitiva, compra muy recomendable

These have transformed my swimming , now I dont get bored and start looking at the clock , in fact I stay in the pool longer.

They sound great , the buttons are easy to use though I prefer not to use them, they stay on
No more itunes or sonic stage etc to manage music just drop it onto the drive in windows
you can drop whole folders but I prefer one big flat list of songs

now for the caveats

They are not a bluetooth device (there is one in the range but who leaves their phone by the side of the pool)

You need a physical copy of the music , whether that is MP3 , flac or any of the other formats , Most of my music now comes from Amazon Music as a stream , but I did have enough stuff off an old drive and used that , there are other ways to obtain music files

I swim mainly crawl and there is little or no change in the music when I breathe (every other stroke) however if I do breast stroke the music tone changes when my head is out of the water , If I swam breaststroke that would drive me mad. Unless of course you swim with your head out of the water all the time in which case they are ok

I think the way I breathe doesnt allow time for the water to run off the speaker

I spent a day reading reviews and all competing models had their pros and cons, good and bad reviews. Decided on these and I’m writing this review after only one swimming session but I’ve got to tell someone what a brilliant bit of kit these headphones are. I loaded a couple of mp3 and aac files, familiarized myself with the controls within a couple of minutes and headed to the pool. Sounds best when doing front crawl or backstroke with the continuous submersion. Doing breaststroke it’s a constant variant in sound (but that’s from water going in and out your ear each time you submerge, not any variation in sound output). Placed my goggles on over the band to secure them. A mile swim felt so easy with these, and makes me want to swim more, so they’re worth their weight in gold.

C'est le type de produit que je cherchais depuis longtemps. J'aime bien nager mais il faut avouer que faire des longueurs dans le brouhaha de la piscine n'a rien de bien entrainant et parfois on mets fin à sa séance plus par ennui que fatigue.

La principale et non négligeable contrainte de ce produit est qu'il faut avoir sa musique téléchargé sous forme de fichier (beaucoup de format sont supportés). Si cette contrainte est gérable pour vous alors c'est un excellent produit et sinon ce n'est pas le bon produit pour vous.

L'appareil est fournit avec un cable, des bouchons d'oreille, un pince nez et une petite sacoche.

Côté son si vous mettez les bouchons ou que vous avez la tête immergée dans l'eau c'est tout simplement génial. Le son est ample et de bonne qualité. Bien entendu rien à voir avec un casque audio classique mais c'est très proche compte tenu que vous êtes dans l'eau. C'est bien mieux que d'entendre la musique quand elle est diffusé dans la piscine ou même avec des hauts parleurs immergés (sans compter que c'est votre musique).

Personnellement je ne l'utilise pas avec les bouchons parce que je trouve qu'avec ces derniers et la musique on est trop coupé de l'extérieur quand on ne nage pas. Sans les bouchons et la tête hors de l'eau le son est bien moins ample (un peu comme de la musique écoutée sur une vieille radio) . Ca reste agréable mais rien à voir avec le son avec les bouchons ou la tête immergée. J'imagine aussi que les bouchons garantissent le fonctionnement en préservant l'absence d'eau dans l'oreille mais je n'ai pas rencontrer ce problème en l'utilisant.

Sans les bouchons et pour ce qui est de mes oreilles cela fonctionne parfaitement en crawl (y compris pendant les respirations, papillons, et dos... En brasse la tête étant trop longtemps hors de l'eau c'est le son plus léger pour moi.

On retrouve les fonctions habituelles des lecteurs (répétition, aléatoire, commande de volume et de changement de plage). L'autonomie est bonnes et de plusieurs heures. il y a un mode swim qui égalise le son différemment semble t il mais je n'ai pas spécialement testé l'autre mode. Les commentaires fait ici concerne le mode swim.

Le produit est léger et reste l'essentiel du temps bien en place. il m'est arrivé de le replacer quelques fois mais c'est rare. on l'oublie assez facilement.

Le connecteur pour le recharger et transférer les fichiers audios est simple à utiliser. NB c'est une prise usb A (les classiques initiales) donc si vous etes en USB C sur votre ordinateur il vous faut un adaptateur mais on peut imaginer que vous avez déjà ce problème avec d'autres accessoires.

Sur les problèmes en usages j'ai eu quelques fois ou le lecteur passait en cours de lecture au morceau suivant sans que je sache pourquoi. c'est occasionnel mais si on revient à la plage précédente on a le morceau complet.

Les commandes sont simples sur l'appareil mais ne vous attendez pas à les utiliser toutes les cinq minutes ce n'est pas fait pour cela et l'appareil étant petit on tâtonne un peu à chaque fois.

je finirais en indiquant que le produit donne une impression de solidité et fiabilité.

Peut être que le prochain modèle sera licencié avec une plateforme de streaming pour écouter offline des morceaux mais en attendant pour ceux qui ont encore de la musique sous fichiers c'est un très bon produit.

I have a pair of Shokz for running so already knew I’d like them. These are for swimming, just swimming. Even surfacing for breaststroke the sound quality drops from excellent to poor. But oh my, when you are tumble turning whilst rocking out they are pure magic. Can’t rate these highly enough.
They do have a second mode for non-swimming. Here the sound quality for walking/running is much better than the swim mode but not as good as the Openrun headphones. So for me, these will be for swimming only.
Would obviously love Bluetooth, the only music I own is >10yrs old, but as I only swim an couple of hours a week this isn’t a problem, just a case of resetting expectations and enjoying some 90s jam.
