"Strong characters, solid mystery. A great feel for the newsroom, as well as Wyoming. McLinn does a stellar job of clouding the identity of the murderer, while leavening the tension with sly humour. Highly recommended!"
"Clever, fun characters set in Old West with quick, intelligent wit and plot. Love this author and her in-depth characters."
"These books have it all, mystery, love, friendship and humor. She writes a little like Janet Evanovich only better. The story is more developed. A good read, modern western."
"With each book I've read, I've appreciated McLinn's storytelling abilities more & more. From Shadow to Deputy Shelton & all the great characters in between, each is written with understanding of human nature & heart. I'm hooked."--This text refers to the paperback edition.

The book, as are all in the series, is beautifully written with delightful twists and turns in language. However, it, and all of them, need a very thorough edit to correct slips in content - words left out and incomplete sentences - that were overlooked. Most likely the author performed the final edit, and she read what she thought was written down, not what was there. The series has the potential to be a best-seller but MUST be cleaned up by a professional editor.

Again the people of the tiny town provide a mad cast of characters - all of whom come under suspicion for various reasons. I must admit I didn't see the ending - and I usually do - but this time...
Shadow comes to the fore well and truly this time and Elizabeth is still angsting over her suitors and whether she will stay at the end of her contract with the TV station.
