At 3:19 p.m. on the afternoon of February 24, 1996, over the Straits of Florida, a Cuban MiG fighter pilot urgently radioed his ground controller: “Target lock-on, authorize us.”

Excellent preview of a very needed nonfiction account

The chronology set forth in this short preview is essential to the understanding of the injustice committed against five men whose only actions were in defense of their fellowmen against potential terrorist attacks from Miami. The writer argues that while the attack against unarmed planes of Brothers to the Rescue, allegedly invading international waters may have been a crime, neither of the five men convicted had prior knowledge that Fidel Castro had given an order to shoot down the planes. The trial took place in the carnival like atmosphere of anti Castro Miami where a communist agent clearly does not have the possibility of a fair trial. Furthermore, facts were not presented into evidence that appear to exonerate the victims of this crime for a decision solely reached by Jose Basulto and Fidel Castro to place lives in peril by the former and to destroy lives by the later... Very metaphorically akin to Cuban politics in the last 53 years.
