The book is divided into three sections. It begins by demanding that the reader clearly identify a personal vision. The second section identifies best practices for a path toward your personal vision. The final section reminds the reader that success is best enjoyed with the company of others.
The advice in this book parallels the wisdom that Napoleon Hill presented in his books. However, I prefer Shortcut to Prosperity for two primary reasons. First, Mr. Hopkins found success in his career prior to writing about success. Second, the book is written for today. This is my favorite book on finding success and I will recommend it to anyone interested in taking control of their path in life.
The book provides excellent exercises to aide you in the development of your personal roadmap. I found the personal values and vision exercises extremely helpful in identifying the scope and next steps in my career path. The concept of the prosperity cycle has acted as a flywheel to help me keep myself mentally strong and to keep momentum to stay on track during my journey. The shortcut to prosperity is not necessarily the time it takes to get where you want to go; rather, it is centered around learning from others and identifying the right opportunities that allow you to reach your prosperity goals more efficiently and directly.
The author, Mark Hopkins, does an excellent job of providing a structure to develop your 10 entrepreneurial habits. One of the best aspects of this book is that it is written by an author who used the fundamental principles to excel his career and obtain his prosperity goals. He did this while giving back to others in the process.
The structure of the book is organized very well. There are three sections that contain a chapter per principle. Each chapter contains a real-life experience that anchors the theme of the chapter. I found each story extremely motivating as each story comes from a different walk of life. In addition, the book references many great books that are geared to the personal development and business genres (I am going to go back through the book and make a reading list of the mentioned books).
Buy this book, it will help you put your frame of mind in the right position to start working towards your prosperity goals.
