This story is set in Coda again. It is fun to see old characters through new eyes. The reader knows them but the new characters are still trying to figure them out and their confusion is fun to read.
Both main characters come into this story having given up to some degree. Meeting each other again as adults shocks them and rattles their assumptions and complacency. The meeting they had as teenagers was passionate and life changing.
There is a mystery in this story that does keep you guessing. There are a lot of clues that lead down false trails and make you wonder who our characters should trust.
...providing an update on Matt, Jared, Zach and Angelo, and the subtle hint on Cole and Jonathan. It was nice to see those guys again.
...the information on the symptoms of depression. If even one life is saved because your readers now recognize the struggle then Lamar's experiences were not in vain.
...the suspense, stalking. I had no idea right up until the very end! Once the culprit was caught I had to backtrack and follow the thread.
...the laughs. There are many things here that had me giggling late into the night but Gandalf and Darth Vader facing off was too much. I thought it was just me. I have Hagrid hold a hatching dragon's egg in one hand while pointing his pink umbrella at the Angry Birds.
I laughed, I cried, I learned some things. I worried about Lamar, I was angry yet understanding of Dominic and grateful for Elena. I went through everything a good book should take you through and we all came okay on the other side, so thank you.
