I have loved this ever since it came out and will continue to - if you've not whet your whistle on the Pogues yet, this is a great album to start with!

This is the best CD! I head the initial music as the background for a car commercial,(the one with the mom taking the kids to hockey practice) and had to find out what it was and who did it. Did a little digging and found it to be "If I Should Fall From the Grace of God". I ordered the CD and then discovered the Pogues. They are great! Liked everything on the CD and love the Irish brouge.

If you buy only one CD by The Pogues, this is the one. Shane MacGowan's songs chew nails, but beneath the rage and "what the hell!" attitude there's humor and compassion and a great passion for life (and one hell of a poetic vision). Add to that one of the finest gang of musicians ever assembled and you get a CD that beggars the language for superlatives -- from the first note to the final chord, there isn't a single bad moment. This CD ROCKS!

No they are not the Clash, Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols or Iggy Pop but this cd gives them merit to this exclusive club of musicians using accordians, banjos stand up bass along with traditional rock n roll instruments and they not only rock but deliver a message.

Songs on this album will make you laugh, cry, outraged from both historical and current injustices, and simply smile at the wonderful ride the Pogues always delivered.
