Travers Warner is way too busy for dating. As Chief Operating Officer of Butler Hotels, he works pretty much around the clock. Most women are only interested in his wallet or his connections anyway, and who has time for that? Travers would much rather focus on business. Besides, the woman he really wants isn’t interested.
Colleen Bowers is more than a pretty face, and she has no patience for anyone who assumes she’s an empty-headed beauty.
A successful attorney, Colleen dedicates her life to helping families and the elderly. Between a rewarding career and planning an upcoming wedding, she has everything a girl could possibly want. Then, she begins to suspect her fiancé may not exactly be the man of her dreams.
When Travers catches Colleen trying to escapes from her engagement party, it could be his chance to finally get close to the feisty redhead. He’s headed cross-country to try and track down problems with his company’s supply chain. He invites Colleen along. Needing some space to rethink her life options, she agrees.
A road trip may be the distraction they both need, but as the miles fly by, Colleen and Travers might discover something even better. Could love be just around the bend?

About the author

Susan Warner was born in New Bern, North Carolina. These days she lives in the melting pot of the United States, New York. She writes about sweet small-town romance as a way to remember her roots. She has been blessed with four grown children and a man who cares about her enough to understand when the voices start-up in her head, it’s time for her to go to work.
She originally started telling stories to her kids to benefit from learning about country values even though they weren’t raised there. As time went on, she found others who wanted to hear her stories. Stories that believe in the goodness of people, the sanctity of love, and understand that forgiveness and compassion make us better human beings.
When Susan isn’t writing, she reads voraciously, volunteers to help the homeless and animals when she can, and is eternally trying to get the gauge right in her knitting.

The H is a workaholic and COO of a hotel chain. The h is a successful attorney. He’s had an eye on her for awhile. He even stopped dating after he met her. However, she just got engaged so he’s free to date again. Then he spots her running away from her fiancé and their engagement party. He aids in her getaway. She just found out that her fiancé was using her to get the DA job in town. She breaks up with him. The H invites her on his business road trip so she can get away from her fiancé. The road trip is filled with wacky incidents but they manage to get their HEA.
The story and characters were funny and the banter was lively. However, I felt there was more laughs than romance. I didn’t feel much of a connection with the MC.
Not for me. A 2.5 star read.
The comedy is circumstances and more off beat quirks than actual comedy. All the characters are a little weird like exaggerations of old woman with dog, aging hippy, uptight workaholic with intimacy and commitment issues, so that I felt that they were characters in an impromptu play where they didn't know their motivations or lines. Sometimes the exaggerations would fall away and I'd see real potential. If the comedy aspects would have been allowed to not exist if they didn't feel right. If a copy editor had been used instead of spell check. Then this could have been exceptional as it stands it's better than average.
He didn't know why Red was slipping away from her engagement party, but he stepped into help when she needed it, now he had her on his trip to find How his brother disappeared with a whole factory.
