Celia Milbourne is plunged into first disbelief and then denial when she gets the results of her tests. Her mother recently widowed, a young daughter, and a promising career, she doesn’t have time for cancer. Then she digs deeply for strength to fight the monster that would rob her and those she loves.
As the story progresses through treatment, and remission, the author brings emotions into such vivid detail you feel like you’re living in the story with Celia, her family, and friends. Flashbacks through a ghost, who sustains her with a love that transcends death, help us to really get to know Celia as a young girl, a young mother and a caring loving woman of strength and courage.
The opening sentence of Show Me’s back cover reads “Hope is the strongest medicine of all.” As someone that has to rely on Hope to sometimes get through another hour, I embrace the quote by Samuel Smiles.
“Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.”
Show Me is a 5 star read that I recommend as a story that will stay with you long after you read the last sentence.
