The goose neck is adjustable and solid, the clamp feels sturdy, and the materials inspire confidence!
I've owned generic nylon filters, the WindTech PopGard, the Stedman Proscreen XL ($50), and even the JZ PF (a $100 pop filter!!!). And at the end of the day, the Shure Popper Stopper wins hands-down. I should have tried this one out from the beginning.
Is it more expensive than the nameless alternatives online? Yes it is. But not by much! And for how effective it is, it's worth every penny! If you're like me and just have issues blowing and popping your recordings, grab the Shure Popper Stopper. It's only $30 and it saves countless recordings!
Even if a pop still makes it through, with the way the Popper Stopper is designed, it's more-than-easy to edit out with a little Hi-Pass spot treatment!
It still let some plosives through, and it noticeably muffled the sound.
This one is so much better. It sounds much clearer, the pops are entirely gone.
Using it with an SM7B and various large-diaphragm condensers.
Used with the Shure PG42USB, it absolutely stops the pops, even with my mouth 5" away. It's like the two were made for each other. I did get a bit more popping when using an AT2020USB+ at that distance.
Now I always use the filter. I works that well.
