There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
These take a little getting used to, as it takes a while to figure out the right tip size. I also found it impossible to remove the old eartips without destroying them in the process--a definite problem.
They aren't quite as convenient to wear as the Etymotics because they sit on the outside of the ear while the tips fill the outer ear canal, unlike the Etymotics which fit straight into the ear canal. (This is hard to explain in words, but the pictures on their website should make this easy to understand.)
The cables drape over the ear, which cuts down on sounds eminating from the cable into the ear.
Sound quality is excellent, and they take very little getting used to. They are comparable to the Etymotics in terms of sound.
These don't come with "filters" tp keep the ear wax out of the earphone. Instead they provide a little tool with a wire loop on one end for cleaning the earphones out. (The Etymotic filters are expensive and non-reusable.)
Was it worth it? Yep.
So if I had to get more, I'd probably get another pair of these. They seem to balance price and performance nicely. Not eprfectly, but well enough.
Why this product: I've ruined two sets of custom ear molded noise reduction earbuds. The Shure 'buds are less than half the price of the custom models . Though not quite as comfortable as the customs, the Shure 'buds are very comfortable and offer nearly the same amount of "ear plug" noise reduction capability. Overall, I believe the Shure earbuds are better constructed and will far outlast the custom sets I've owned in the past. If not, I'll update this review.

Having read tons of reviews on Sennheiser and Shure ones,I decided to spend abit extra and opted for these Shures.
These are my first ones where cables go over my ears which I found abit awkward to get used to.
But once I mastered this I was blown away by the sound, comfort and isolation of these.
These put all my previous ones to shame. The sound is amazing with excellent bass but not overpowering and vocals sound great on all my music of which I have a very varied mix.
The cable is very long and is made from a very sturdy and durable material which I have never come across before but feels like it is made to last and bends easily over the ears and stays there even doing all kinds of gym work.
Everything about these Shures feel and look like they will last a while but I have only had them a month or two so time will tell.
My only tiny gripe is the pouch as it is basically round which makes you basically just stuff the earphones inside in a tangled mess but I have yet to come across any earphones which supply one which solves this issue.
But due to the material the wires are made of,they untangle with ease when taken out,so this isn't much of a gripe.
Trust me. You won't be disappointed!!!
The sound has a nice character, some mid-bass and clear, detailed midrange which makes for decent easy listening. It misses extension at both ends, sub-bass isn't present so songs with this lack low-end. Treble is reasonable but cymbals are a little less sparkly than ideal for me. I get a good sense of sound-stage - instruments are clearly pitched in a distance and direction according to the recording.
It sounds bad but I actually really like the way these things sound for such a small and relatively inexpensive package - listening to music on the move is always going to be a compromise anyway. After never liking in-ear listening at all, I find these quite comfortable with the default medium foam tips. However after a couple of hours I get achey ears, however something re-fitting and adjusting helps and they can almost disappear from my head for a while.
So far i've not experienced cable failure but due to other reviews i'm making an effort to be really careful with the cables when fitting and packing. I've just bent the really stiff wire near the housing to suit my head and I plan to leave these well alone.
