*** If you are someone who likes a bass punch, either go with the SE215 (cheaper) option of spring for the more expensive 525 and especially the 846 if you can swing it. The 425 sounds WONDERFUL to me but it is NOT bass heavy and is VERY balanced overall. The sound profile is excellent for my use but some may be disappointed based on a preference for a heavier sound profile.***
Full disclosure- this is 1st impressions since I just took delivery today.
VERY impressed with the sound quality and even the performance of the inline mic (for phone calls and conferences). The difference between the wired version and the BT connection is negligible and my "untrained" ears cannot tell a difference. This was not the case with other "Chi-Fi" BT options.
My only complaint is that the overall volume level is MUCH too low for me based on 1st impressions. Connecting to a few different laptops and my OnePlus phone yields insufficient volume levels. Using it in a noisy environment, in my case riding a motorcycle, renders the BT2 option nearly worthless.
I have attempted to contact Shure to see if there's a firmware update available and waiting to hear back. I don't hold out hope since the Shure firmware software won't recognize the unit and the app issued looks to only relate to two of the Shure products and not the BT2 option.
Will update depending on what I hear back from Shure and after a few MC rides but not looking promising at the moment. Disappointed since it overall seems to be an excellent offering otherwise.
The M11 has a volume control for it's bluetooth output. I run the M11 at 100% and control the listening level with the BT-2 control. Very convenient and it sounds fantastic.
1 issue fixed: Out of the box it would power off after a few minutes of operation. Right in the middle of the song you'd get the "goodbye". Did a factory reset following the instructions on the quick start card and it's been flawless ever since.
Sometimes my Jabra would stop working in one ear. It usually happened in the same general location in my house. I wrote it off to some interference but never found the source. The BT-2 don't seem to be affected by that interference, whatever it is.
(wireless) The sound is thin (as when you don’t insert them properly or don’t have a tight seal with those foam sleeves)... which you will try to compensate by increasing the volume which is not going to fix the fact that the sound is not as rich anymore...
and the volume capacity itself drops by about 50% (wireless).
Cheap look and uncomfortable design.
Only black foam caps of the right size provide for sound experience specified: detailed, accurate... etc.
Like your regular earplugs for sleeping the sleeves provide some sound isolation but - regardless of the ambient noise - if you don't have a tight seal the quality of the sound coming from the earpiece drops dramatically.
Trying to create that low profile on the body of the earpiece they created an edge that presses against the wall of my ear and my ears start to ache within one hour.
Overall the product has a cheap look and feel. Left and right marks are hard to see.
The box they came in is probably designed for retail, I had to reap the box apart to unbox the product. So, if you want to try them and return, returns could be problematic.
1. Comfortable- I can wear for 8 hours without discomfort
2. easy to use - quick pair, assemble and listening
3. blocks out unwanted noises, loud co-workers/travelers plane noises
4. great battery life and quick recharge
I'm not a sound connoisseur but I think they sound great. Upgraded my Bose wired noise cancelling headphones for these and I don't regret it.
It won't please bassheads, but has a very clean midrange. This is for those who value clarity over bass. I use full sized headphones for bass anyway.
Has same sound signature as the Drop + JVC HA-EDX1 (blue filters). Basically sounds like the balanced armature version of it, but less bassy and airy. I prefer the SE425 airiness actually, less fatiguing.

These earbuds are the style that you squish into your ear canal, which I usually don't care for. However, there are three sizes of tips, sets in foam, rubber, yellow foam type, as well as the filtered earplug style tips, so you get a really exceptional variety to choose from. I was mostly happy with the smallest rubber ones, though the foam ones you can squeeze with your fingers and jam into your ears before they expand. The others are hit or miss as well. In all cases, though, I found them still a bit uncomfortable and don't enjoy how these types of earbuds amplify me hearing myself breathe. It is important to get them fitted properly, which is trial and error, and confusing at first due to the design, but, the better the seal, the better the sound quality - to a point.
Speaking of sound quality, I found music to be fairly clear, though I wish they were EQ'd slightly differently, as they sounded just slightly as if the high end is filtered, or something, but you may adjust to that pretty quickly, for the most part. The volume goes plenty loud enough for me, and can be adjusted on the inline control, however, some music I listened to seemed like it was clipping ever so slightly, which bothered me. The only other button on there is a play/pause button, and all three have several functions depending on context and how long or how many times you press, which is common on this type of product.
This package includes an alternate cable, which replaces the Bluetooth module with a traditional 3.5mm headset plug. This is the end I use with these earbuds, and I use it primarily with my cellphone. It's good for longer conversations, since the earbuds won't fall out and the sound is clearer. I am not sure how the mic is, but I've not had anyone complain in my conversations as of yet.
Overall, I like the earbuds and the features present. But for me, if I'm going to enjoy music in headphones of any kind, I have cheaper, wired, studio monitors that I much prefer, as well as a variety of other, cheaper, wireless headphones that sound better. This will continue to be used for my phone conversations, but I can't recommend them at this price! You can get a lot cheaper headsets for cellphones... And my search for good-sounding wireless earbuds for music, on the other hand, continues! At this point, I'm not very optimistic I'll ever hear ones that meet my standards - perhaps when it comes to drivers, size does matter.
It took him a while to find a truly good fit, as these were uncomfortable the first few times that he tried these. There are a variety of tips that go with these but it involves a lot of trial and error as these squish right in to the ear canal. Eventually he was able to find a good fit but it took him several attempts.
These are on the pricey side in our opinion, given what they do. They have a few flaws that, if corrected, would make them more worth the higher price, but as is seems like a bit of a steep investment. We like these but we don't love them.
They are a pain to put in your ears but once they are there they are acceptably comfortable. The bluetooth range is maybe 15 feet before it starts cutting out (pathetic). This model (SE425-V+BT2) uses a dual balanced armature driver. First is it better to have more or just one armature? The short answer is that more is better. What multiple armatures does is widen the frequency response. So when you have one all the bass mids and treble come through that one armature. Put in two and now you have one for bass and one for treble. Put in three now you have one for bass one for mids and one for treble and so on. Balanced armature use a coil wrapped metal blade that vibrates to make sound as opposed to a dynamic driver which is more common for earbuds. A dynamic driver uses a diaphragm connected to a magnet to produce sound, a common speaker is an example of this. So that’s how they work now are they worth the money? For the most part yes but I would wait for a sale. These earphones offer a clear and bright listening experience for audiofiles.
