About the Author
Bertram Fields was born in Los Angeles. A practicing lawyer, he graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an Editor of the Harvard Law Review. After serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he began the general practice of law. Since then, he has tried many of the landmark cases in the entertainment, sports and communications industries and has been the subject of numerous personal profiles in magazines and newspapers. He teaches at Stanford Law School and lectures annually at Harvard.
Mr. Fields is the author, under a pseudonym, of two prior novels, The Sunset Bomber published by Simon and Schuster and The Lawyer's Tale published by Random House.
Under his own name, he has written Royal Blood, a biographical work on Richard III and Players, an analysis of the Shakespeare authorship question. Both non-fiction books were published by HarperCollins.
He is also the author of Destiny: A Novel Of Napoleon & Josephine, and Shylock: His Own Story published by Marmont Lane Books.
He lives in Malibu, California with his wife, Barbara Guggenheim, a nationally known art consultant.
