Similarly the characters seem to have a lot of back story in the author's mind but little comes through. I really wanted to empathize with them but the just felt flat.
Sigil Fire combines the sweetest touches of romance, fantasy, and a battle between good and evil into a intriguing, and fast action story full of mistery, romance, action and fantasy themes and that is entertaining and engaging. I adored the entire story!
This book kept me wanting to read more, and in my opinion that is what a good book is all about! A book that captures your attention right from the start, you know the rest of the book is going to be great! I cannot wait to read more!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I got a sense of their pasts as individuals, and the dreams Fae had about Sonia gave them a connection that was later revealed. It was an interesting revelation.
However, I struggled to connect the killer to either woman until the end. That was a mystery that could have used a little more fleshing out but that didn't actually detract from the mystery. I liked Charley and Perry as well they were fun.
This was a story read with some violence and a tiny bit of smexiness. It's a nice start to the series.
Fae, a blood witch turned vampire, is having nightmares of a red haired woman being stalked and killed by an unknown evil entity. She tries to catch up and help her but always gets to red too late. Perry seeks the help from Fae on the case, since she has powers beyond his, and eventually puts two and two together, that her dream is related to the serial murders.
Sonia, a succubi older than time itself, is working as a fetish model and is totally clueless that the murders are directly related to her! As her fellow succubi and also friends are being murdered, she is sent to Fae by a mutual friend to acquire a sigil, which is a protection spell in the form of a tattooed symbol. When the two women meet for the first time, the pieces start to all come together, and an unusual bond is formed immediately. Together, they face the biggest battle of their lives and pray to the Goddess that they survive!
As we are taken through the character development and forming connections, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of skill put into this story. I absolutely loved the world that was created, as well as the characters involved. Unraveling the back story to the main characters was pretty genius! There was such jaw dropping detail to the story that connected multiple people in such a creative way. I was totally into the story and sad to find it to be so short, but then again, it is a novella. The story has definitely peaked my interest by A LOT, and I am craving for more! I can't wait to dig in to the next installment!!
Fae’s brother Perry (a vampire) and his partner Charley (a succubus) are detectives trying to find who is murdering succubi in their city. Fae is contemptuous of Charley, and all succubi, finding them shallow and manipulative. She knows this from bitter experience.
Someone else is concerned about the murders. Sonia is a succubus and fetish model, and several of her friends, including a former lover, have been murdered. She’s determined to stop the killer before any more of her loved ones are lost. When Sonia appears at Fae’s tattoo shop for a sigil (marking for magical intent), Fae recognizes the woman of her dreams.
This was a very erotic story. Fae and Sonia both have reasons to mistrust each other, but when they get together, their connection practically made my e-reader melt. I liked that they had to learn to trust each other and work together to destroy the murderer. I don’t read a lot of this type of story, but I thought the author did a good job of world building. It was a dark shadowy world, as in a film noir, but instead of detectives and femme fatales, it was filled with creatures of the night and the undead.
Sigil Fire produced several twists and turns that had me wondering if the two heroines would succeed in finding their happy ending. If you enjoy dark paranormal romance with plenty of heat, you will enjoy Sigil Fire.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review and received no further remuneration.
