This adapter works very well with my Sigma Art f4 24-105mm EF lens with auto focus in AF-S and AF-C(sometimes) with photos. Low light situations challenge the adapter and lens, but quickly switching to MF on the lens allows me to use the camera's automatic zoom in function when focusing. That's hugely beneficial when trying to get that critical focus in low light. Sometimes you can lock-AF which has been useful at times too. Something I could never have done with Fotodiox.
For video it's hit and miss. It works continually but it is SLOW and quite noisy with my specific lens that clicks away as it works to keep focus of whatever it thinks should be in focus. I have used the a7SII + the Sigma lens for video and it worked okay.
I have zero experience with any other auto focusing EF lenses so I can't speak to them along with this adapter. All I know is that Sigma Art series lenses are well worth the money if you don't intend to shoot in the outdoors all the time. And adapted to Sony's mirrorless bodies they make for a great pair for 40-60% of the price for full-frame E-mount lenses. I'm still looking to get Sony's trinity of their G Master series though - they're absolutely stunning.
Before continuing I have to clarify that my camera is a Sony a7500, my Sigma lenses are a fixed 35mm 1.4 and the long range 150-600 Contemporary.
My experience with the Fotodiox was negative. It could only focus for single shots and in some cases it was slow and went crazy trying to get a focus image. So I basically focused manually. Imagine the frustration to be unable to focus a flying bird manually. So I decided to replace the Fotodiox with the MC-11 adapter. But before buying I wanted to make sure it would do continuous autofocus at the Sigma store.
Both of the lenses could do it easily and quickly, so I decided to pay an extra difference and buy it in Costa Rica.
The question was: would it do continuous autofocus with my Canon lenses? I own three Canon: the 24-105L f/4, a fixed 200mm f/2.8 and the 16-35mm f/4. The good news for me is that they work pretty well with these lenses, and that I saved myself a lot of money by not buying the Metabones.
I am not sure as of now if the videos will come out well but the photos so far are marvelous.
I recommend this adapter, but with reservations since I do not know if the adapter works with older or different lenses.
As an additional observation I should mention that once I received the message that AF-C would
not work with the 24-105, I disregarded it and I had no eventual focusing problems with the adapter.
This adapter is not for canon nor sigma art lenses on sony’s bodies.
