It's great to measure small capacitors on logic boards

It's great to measure small capacitors on logic boards
This meter is very easy to use. I use it to measure capacitors and resistors in the logic boards of iPhones. You have to use very thin probes to measure this kind of small capacitors and a stereo microscope to see what are you doing. I totally recommend it when you are a electronic engineer like me.

After researching all my options, I bought this LCR Meter to measure some home made air core inductors in the 0.1 uH to 200 uH range and was trying to not spend a lot of money. I started out testing a variety of commercial inductors with tolerances of 5 to 10 percent (probably made in China). The LCR Meter readings were all over the place. I was getting worried about the M4070. But then I started measuring a wide variety of inductors that I had carefully wound myself based on frequently used formulas (wire size, turns per inch, diameter, length) and the LCR meter was right on the money (exactly) every time. Every "pair" of inductors of the same desired value not only gave the same reading, but the reading was precisely what the formulas predicted. Similarly, when measuring some high quality silver mica capacitors, the readings agreed with the marked values within the tolerances for the capacitors. While you may feel like you are using someone's science project while working with the M4070 LCR Meter (you can almost watch it think), it appears to be very accurate and very easy to use. It obviously has a microprocessor that figures out what it is looking at, and automatically adjusts for the component type and range needed to make the measurement. My area of interest was for inductors in the range mentioned above and for capacitors in the 1 pF to 1000 pF range. I have not used the M4070 LCR Meter yet to measure much higher L and C values. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, I'm of the opinion that this little meter will get the job done.

Wanted a reliable way to test capacitors and inductors. Singstek M4070 works great! It's far more accurate than my multimeter at measuring capacitance and I couldn't measure inductance at all before I got this meter.

The screen is well illuminated and the product is very solidly built. It is a bit toy like in appearance but don't let that fool you, this is a solid product. You turn it on and it just works. You can hear the relay clicking inside which feels sort of cool.

It's very easy to use. It also auto detects what you are testing, messages like "Small Inductor", or "Large Capacitor" appear above the measured value. It would be nice if it measured capacitor ESR, but at this price point you really can't ask for more.

I must say this LCR meter has exceeded my expectations. I give it thumbs up all the way!

EDIT: well I spoke too soon. I turned the meter on and it can no longer measure capacitance. Now I may have made a mistake as I still had the capacitor plugged into the meter from when I measured it before when I turned it on, but I wouldn't think that should damage the meter. The capacitor is brand new and was only ever unpacked to test with the meter, so there was never any other charge in it other than the one provided by the meter for testing (which should be safe.)

Anyways the meter now goes into this autorange cycle mode and it can't measure sub uF capacitance, as it keeps cycling.

Seller was fine and delivery was fine. Was not satisfied with product. Virtually no instructions. Objective was to measure resistance/conductivity of battery electrolyte. Could not select frequency for measuring resistance, meter reading drifted. Just think product design and/or quality was poor. Considering returning it.

I'm not quite sure how to rate this. It measures everything fine for the most part. There is an issue with a specific range of inductor values that seem to be right around where it switches between two measurement ranges and it gets stuck in a loop. But more curiously it has developed an issue where I can't turn it off. I press the on/off button and displays the message "Thanks for using, goodbye" but then just goes back to the screen it was on before. It stays on till the battery dies and then I have to plug it in the next time I want to use it. I'm assuming the soft off button puts the microcontroller into a deep sleep mode and for some reason the code isn't letting it get there.
