I also like that Silca warranties this set for 25 years for use wear (lifetime for craftsmanship). Silca will also warranty the set for any accidental damages not related to use for 6 months after purchase. They extend this accidental damage warranty to 2 years if the purchase is registered in their website. This warranty, along with the quality, was the biggest reason why I decided to buy the tools.
The problem I have with this toolset is the fit of the tools to their respective size bolts. I bought this based on people's reviews saying things such as it's the best fitting hex wrenches they have ever used. I have tried all the sizes, except for the smallest wrench, on their respective size bolts and the play and tolerances were no better than my $10 Home Depot set. I have tried on both used and new bolts, including factory installed fasteners that I have never touched, so I know bolt wear is not the issue. Even fitting the 6mm wrench to the included bit adapter shows this loose tolerance.
If the set cost less than $30, I would probably have kept it since it looks so nice. For its retail price though, I expect much tighter tolerances. I did not buy this from Amazon. The online store I bought it from had a limited edition case on sale for $78 with free shipping. Luckily, they agreed to take it back including a prepaid shipping label.
Edit: I did contact Silca before sending the toolset back. A day after sending it back, I just received a reply back from Silca asking me if I could measure the tools and they will send me replacements for the tools that are out of tolerance. Even if I still had the set, I don't have a precise and accurate way of measuring the tools. Had I decided to keep the toolset, I will probably just ask them to send me all eight of the hex keys. I really like companies that are responsive to their customers.
The magnetic adapter is nice but a little silly. The adapter itself is high quality but the 1/4" bits are generic. It feels like that stuff is there to justify a higher price rather than add value. I use the T25 here and there, but the slot and Philips bits I don't think have ever left their slots.
The box hinge is wearing out sooner than it ought to on something at this price point. The hinge and its hardware are definitely undersized.
Despite the gripes the quality of these can't be overstated. They'd be worth the cost even if they shipped out as nothing more than 8 wrenches in a greasy ziplock.
