My Italian-made Silca metal floor pump is from 1980, and should never become obsolete, as long as a couple replacement parts are available. First, the rubber disc on the end of the hose to hold and seal the valve while pumping, which I have needed to change twice in 30+ years. The other, the leather plunger washer to seal the main tube while pumping, which I needed to change for the first time in 30+ years. Yes leather, not rubber or plastic; if you think about it, that is similar to what's used the best car seats and pro sports equipment.

Go to most bicycle dealers now and they'll tell you they never heard of Silca, then want to sell you other brands with pumps made of plastic, not metal and leather. Good thing Amazon teams with old-school bike shops to keep the good stuff like Silca available!!!

Two parts of the Silica Pista & Super Pista wear out with use. The plunger washer and the Presta head washer. Genuine Silca leather washer. Expect these units to properly function for many cycles of use based on past replacement washers from Silca.

What can I say? A classic for a classic! Just grab one of these guys every eight or ten years, gnaw the old one off (which now resembles something discovered under the seat of your wife's minivan after a four-day whitewater trip), clean the petrified petroleum products from the inside of the tube, lube this up and inflate away! Makes you and the pump feel young again!

My old leather had a crack I couldn't see until I removed it, hence the pressure drop while pumping issues. This new leather is perfect, my pump is at least 35+ years old, pumps like new again. My old leather lasted at least 20 years!
BTW, I thought I was going to also replace the check valve in my pump, it turns out my pump / valve is NOT the same as the valve that comes up, I have a type of Schrader threaded in valve that is not out there in the Silca parts world.
A short Schrader valve from a conventional tire valve stem sort of works in it's place, but the spring action on it is much stiffer. It will work though.
Even though when you go to the Silca site, and they say "any pump can be rebuilt", they don't have the check valve for my pump, and on the outside my pump looks pretty much like any Silca pump from the 70's.

Love my Silca pump! Have had it for close to twenty years now. This is the first time I had to replace the leather gasket. Now the pump is as good as new. I had a one issue the first time I put the gasket on where it was not holding much pressure. I took it apart again and it looked like the gasket was not sung against the top washer so air was still getting past it. Once I tightened everything up it was as good as new again.

It is amazing how such a simple and inexpensive part can make a 20-year-old Silca Track pump (28mm tube) work as good (or perhaps even better) than the day it was purchased. Installation was very easy, and I took the time to disassemble the pump while I was at it to make sure all of the other parts were good, which they were. This repair should have me in good shape for another 20 years!

This fit perfectly in my old Silca 88 track pump and made it like new. It was very easy to replace. I replaced the inner valve and the rubber washer in the head at the same time, all for way less than the cost of a new (inferior) floor pump.

I bought a Silca bike pump in 1992. At the time, it was one of the more expensive options and I didn't have much money. I chose that pump because I was told it would last a lifetime; that even when the inevitable dry-rot happened it could be inexpensively repaired. Here it is 21 years later and I needed this part to get it in working order again. I have to say I was surprised to find that it really is still available and for a very low price. (You can still find parts for a Model T Ford, but you will pay a high price for them.) I installed it and it works great. Might as well be a brand new pump.
