Ever since since she almost died - rejected by the afterlife, so to speak - vintage fashion store owner Nicki Styx has been able to see the dead. Generally they want her help, which usually lands Nicki and her understanding boyfriend, Dr. Joe Bascombe, in hot water. But Nicki has interfered once too often, and three vindictive spirits, the ancient, relentless Three Fates, are out to punish her. One of them, a seductive succubus, plans to ensnare Joe through mind-bending erotic dreams. VERDICT: The fourth entry in Garey's award-winning Nicki Styx series, this sultry, upbeat urban fantasy puts a new twist on visitations by Christmas ghosts and is just the thing for readers who want their holiday fare with a darker edge. Garey (You're the One That I Haunt) won a RITA Award for the series opener, Dead Girls Are Easy; she lives in Florida. --Library Journal Review, September 21, 2009

Together they've conquered evil spirits, saved lost souls, and beaten back the Devil himself, but they're about to learn that there are more things in Heaven and Hell than they ever imagined. That being said, I loved the fact that there was that little twist in the book that revealed that Nikki is part of something far bigger and that more than one side exists.
All in all it was worth buying and reading and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Nicki and Joe's relationship is at stake, in this book, as it has been in the others. Maybe, it was just too much for me. A couple of books with a troubled relationship is enough, and I think the author should of had this book to be entirely written with them being a stable couple with other outside troubles. It would be nice to see them work together for a whole book, against an outside adversary. It lacked the wit, and charm of the previous ones, but it's a fast read, and if you have read the rest of the series, you won't want to miss this one.

Whew! This was a tough book, but absolutely fantastic. Serious issues for Nicki & Joe in this one which made it so hard to read. Heartbreak. Frustration.Read more
