There seem to be two schools of thought when it comes to releasing silent comedy on DVD. The first one is to obtain the best surviving prints of the film, use the latest digital technology to clean it up, commission and record some new music, then package in a nice box-set with a booklet explaining more about the films and the restoration project. The second is to simply dump whatever footage you can find onto DVD, add some stock "silent film" music and then release. This box-set falls firmly into the second category. It appears to have been released with no real respect for the original material and the whole process just comes across as plain lazy. As an example, the "DVD-extras" consist of Buster's filmography which looks like it has just been copy-and-pasted straight from IMDB.
Keaton's comedy deserves better than this. Look at the DVD release of Charlie Chaplin at Keystone for how it should be done.
