I read some reviews that said the mat was too sticky and I kept thinking to myself "How could it be TOO STICKY?" That is the part that fails on a cutting mat! So I ordered them anyway and I I think they are a great amount of sticky. Yes, too sticky if you are cutting very thin paper, but the thinnest I cut is 65 lb cardstock. And it cuts my 100 lb cardstock great too (which does need extra sticky to cut right). I have purchased a variety of mats and I am very happy with the stickiness of this mat. It lasts longer than the previous mats that I have had (I cut several sheets a day for my business). The only thing I don't like is that when the mats white layer gets cut it gets stuck to the paper.

I bought this because I lost my regular portrait mat (I have no idea how). I was VERY skeptical that this would be any different than the regular one, but in actuality it worked great! My first use with it was for stickers and the back got stuck on one spot only and I was able to carefully remove it without completely ruining my project. With the original mat, the back of the sticker paper would always get stuck and I would have a gigantic mess. This was a very good alternative to it.

The price on Silhouette America's website for this is $12.99 currently. I got it on here for about $6.50 which is a great price. These are not sold at my local craft store so my only options are to buy on Amazon (or other online retailers) or to make one myself. Personally, this was a good price in my opinion and it really worked well for the majority of my projects.

This mat is perfect for me as I only use my machine to cut vinyl and I need a really sticky mat for that, but I can see how people who are doing more paper cutting would be frustrated by the stickiness. I am very happy with this mat though and if you are mainly using it to cut vinyl I think it will be a great mat for you too. If you do both you may want to have two mats and keep the one you use for vinyl as is, but rub the one you are using on paper over some fabric to take away a little of the stickiness and you should be good to go.

I am fairly new to Silhouette products in general and didn't know this existed until recently. I really trashed some paper using the regular tack mat. I blotted the mat with a clean t-shirt as suggested to remove some of the 'tack' but that sucker was still *really* sticky!
The light hold mat is wonderful! It holds my card stock and sticker paper in place and allows me to remove it easily after cutting without spending the next 20 minutes peeling away scraps of ripped paper. Frustration free? Yes!

These are necessary for using with a Cameo or Portrait machine to ensure that the item being cut doesn't shift. The only complaint I have with these is that they start out as being too tacky and ripping paper, particularly where the tracks feed the paper in and out. Some paper can be quite costly, which is why we don't want any shifting in the first place. It can be very frustrating creating an intricately detailed something or other with expensive paper and having it get damaged in the removal - even with a spatula. Other than that it serves its purpose well.

It takes a long time for item ordered from America to arrive but once they do I've always been satisfied. I ordered the 'light tack' mat for my more delicate paper, I found a regular mat too sticky. I have to say I'll be using the ordinary mats in future for all but the thinnest of papers. I don't think the 'light tack' mat is going to last long at all!

Needed a replacement cutting mat for our silhouette as i didn't really look after the first one. It is what it is and does the job fine. If you look after it, it will last you ages. Tip> when your cutting mat loses its stickyness, wash it with soapy water to get all the residue off then after allowing it to dry spray it with some low-tac aerosol glue. The mat will last you for a lot, lot longer.

Bear in mind that to start with they are extra sticky - I would recommend flipping the mat over and peeling the mat away from the page not the other way round - it helps to reduce the curl. Other than that it does the job!
