Your fabric blade, like your sewing scissors, will dull when used with paper. That's why it's important that a separate blade is kept on hand for cutting fabric with your silhouette. The silhouette fabric blade is identical to the current silhouette blade except for its distinguishing color.

Anyway, it works fine on fabric - I made a bunting appliqué of my niece's name (Samantha) out of Kona solids and fused them to a pink polka dot fabric from Robert Kaufman. I used the Silhouette fusible adhesive and the blade cut through fine. I might use Lite Heat N Bond the next time I do it.
There were a few errant threads on the edges of the fabric but nothing that wouldn't have happened if you had cut it with scissors. The cuts were really clean. Please see my photos for the in-progess pictures of the bunting to get an idea. First - all cut out. Second - sewing. Third - all appliquéd.
Cleaning the strings and fabric out of the blade is not easy, either. The instructions are rather lacking and although I have found some information online, the best information has been from trial and error. As far as if this is a good blade... it is EXACTLY like the black ones (which I knew when I bought it) and has the same length of life on similar materials than the black one would. Do you need a blue one instead of a black one? I don't think so. It's more of a convenience factor, so go with whatever is the cheapest at the time. I AM happy that I can usually buy them on Amazon with Prime and not have to pay for shipping plus the cost is often times lower than through Silhouette directly.
I can get more quilts finish by using this blade on my Silhouette.
